since (family) names are A Thing for shadowhunters, ive just been playing around thinking of which shadowhunter family vibes would best fit the characters imo + which characters could be downworlders and this is what I landed on. I don't really have much else in mind plot wise so i don't know why this half-cooked concept wouldn't just leave my brain but alas
Theodore "Ted" Lightwood+Karen Lovelace [Heads of the NYC Institute]
Holly Lightwood (I initially thought of her as a Max Lightwood parallel ngl.... but I won't think about that rn.......)
(Wheelers-Lightwoods parallel just makes sense to me. "purebloods", kinda posh and snobbish rich family but also some (emphasis on Some lol) of the bestest people. also messy gays)
Joyce Blackthorn+James "Jim" Greymark [the boys' dad is still Lonnie Byers, a mundane and a piece of shit in all universes im afraid] (Jim is not a werewolf, I just gave him Luke's name bc it worked. I would really see him as a werewolf but I'm not sure it'd work plot wise?? maybe?? but also this only has to make sense to me actually so he can be a werewolf ig) [Joyce was estranged kinda like Jocelyn (yo I just noticed how they basically have the same name lmao i swear) but then idk insert plot here and she's back in shadowhunter society. I'm so good at this]
Jonathan Blackthorn (parentified older sibling.. jules im looking at you </3)
William "Will" Blackthorn (I have yet to work out if his disappearance is 1 bc he gets trapped in fae, 2 bc of shenanigans with some greater demon, 3 bc he's kidnapped by the same person(Brenner/Henry?) who kidnapped El previously, 4 bc of a secret fourth option that somehow combines several of the above)
El/Jane Blackthorn (gets kidnapped as a child - thinking a valentine experimenting with demon and angel blood typa thing but haven't quite worked that out yet either - possibly linked to what happens to will later on?; also she's a Shadowhunter too but was maybe orphan and was living with wild fae before getting kidnapped as a child for whatever reason? man idk trying to figure out a plot that makes sense is giving me a headache rip; anyway when she gets back to Shadowhunter society she gets taken in by the Blackthorns and gets their name since she doesnt know her og Shadowhunter name - the fey just called her Jane and when she was kidnapped she was called Eleven; ig her birth family could secretely be Morgenstern?)
Lucas Herondale (Thee brave romantic Hero. can totally see him having beef with ducks too)
Erica Herondale (she inherited 90% of the Herondale sarcasm and left the rest to her brother)

Max Carstairs (mundane parents- Mayfield before ascending; she has the Sight and gets involved with the Party somehow when they're kids, so she decides to go to the academy and ascend. picks Carstairs as a name bc they're badasses ofc)

Stephen "Steve" Fairchild (initially it was just by process of elimination of the family names i had left, then I was hit with the matthew fairchild bi mess of it all and it kinda felt right)
Vickie Dunne (witch - she's a healer like catarina loss! she's a baby witch -like shes Actually 20 for the first time yk and still learning her powers; her mark is freckles that move around/change color and unnaturally shaped pupils)
Kali (wild fey - part of the Wild Hunt. how would this work exactly in relation to her and El's shared past? idk why are you asking me I literally just work here. I just know she's in the Wild Hunt now that's it<3)
weapons of choice for the (extended) party:
Mike - throwing knives and throwing stars (I wanted to give him a sword I swear but he said no. maybe it's just wavy black hair that demands a shadowhunter be throwing knives - both Will and Ty preferred throwing knives iirc? lol)
Nancy - now, she gets a sword. I don't think the Lightwoods have a family sword in canon but for the sake of this au that Only Has To Make Sense To Me, they do (so imagine like Emma with Cortana or Clary with Heosphoros). Plus she gets an electrum-laced whip bc it's a Hot Lightwood Women legacy thing
Holly - she would obviously still be in training but I can see her with an axe (like Lucy, and I think Dru has one too?)
Jonathan - crossbow (not just bc of the Julian parallel I swear it suits him)
Will - daggers and throwing knives
El - is literally good at Everything bc she was trained extra hard (and has extra angel blood? possibly? so that gives her super-superpowers á la Jayce?). can't decide if she'd have a specific weapon of choice
Lucas - all kinds of ranged weapons but esp bow and arrow. but he is also really good at close combat with blades. multi talented king
Steve - morning star bc it's like a nail bat on steroids
Max - balisong and daggers

henderhop? perchance? I see them travelling the world together bc they're both super curious and adventurous, hopping from institute to institute for a long time, perusing shadow markets, and maybe at one point down the line they fall in love ? or alternatively I can see a Mark/Kieran/Cristina poly fae happily ever after in their future.... much to think on
