Preparing myself for the impending 80+ degree heatwave this week! This is Forlorn Hope’s “Queen of the Sierra” Estate Rosé made from Barbera and Zinfandel grown on the Rorick Family Estate in Calaveras County, California. The vineyard is planted in dolomite-rich limestone soils underneath a layer of schist at an elevation of 2000 feet. The fruit was hand-picked, whole-cluster pressed into neutral barrels and allowed to be spontaneous with its fermentation. The wine was racked and bottled unfined/unfiltered and with no additives except for a touch of SO2.
