Kenyan matatus -- 15 passenger vans that are the main form of public transportation in the country -- have a reputation for being incredibly dangerous. For years police, public officials and others have tried to figure out how to get matatu drivers to slow down. Then two researchers from Georgetown University had an idea -- they would put stickers on the vans encouraging passengers to speak up about reckless driving. The results of this experiment have been dramatic: in the first study, matatus with stickers saw a 50 to 65 percent reduction in traffic accidents compared to matatus without the stickers.
