Today’s Native/Indigenous Character in Media is Maug from Crooked Arrows (2012)!
Maug is of the Onondaga, and is played by Aaron Printup of the Tuscarora!
My brother would watch this movie on repeat! And it was exciting because a family friend was in the movie! He was one of the extras though xD
// So while my browser was having a ten minute crashing fiasco and references were beyond me I scribbled Maug and put some colors on her. I think I've decided on it being a her. She has floppy fins on her head, too, now. We can thank callofkumungu for that idea. ewe; :D k now to doing those 'me next' doodles.
For those curious about my voidborn OC
// Its name is Maug, and it is a big fatty babby. But uh. If you piss them off they might just crush you very flat and have fun rolling in your remains. Heavy babby...
Snippet: The Book of Tuk, chapter one.
This is a snippet for the novel I am working on. I think it is a fun little piece, but feel free to give me your opinions on it. (To set the stage, it is a comedy-fiction and not meant to be taken seriously.) - - - Over the distant horizon, in a far corner of the world, lay an ancient land forgotten to all except those who resided there. It lay past the ever-shadowed, muck filled swamplands of Grimsboroth, and through the near impenetrable maze of conifers that was Adenwald. It lay in the highest reaches of the Ridgeback mountains, whose peaks rose into the clouds, in the very roof of the world. It was a lightly forested valley, nestled between mountain slopes just below the snow line. Spoken of only in the great tales of old, it had many a name in days long past, but only one was its true name conceived by its inhabitants at the dawn of the world. Rhom-Nera they called it, the valley of clouds. A decade ago this land bore witness to the birth of a infant. Tuk, he was named. And for a decade he lived in relative peace isolated from the world beyond. But now, after years of searching, the ancients have found that for which they seek. Their eyes turn towards the mountains and their agents follow. A reckoning approaches. A reckoning that will pit good against evil, brave against brutal, and ultimately decide the fate of the world. This is the story of Tuk and how the fate of the world rested on his small, blue back.
"Bam, okay ka lang jan?"
I knew it. Maug is looking at me. Maybe to check if I'm okay, as what she usually does, or to see what brand of LT I'm bringin...
