It probably wasn’t the best idea to start inktober the week I had to edit a film for a festival but here we are
The first OC is Mavoc from the vampire story!
Mavoc is a Japanese-American whose parents died when she was little, and she was raised by the ghost of an Irish woman in a small apartment in the No-Light District of West Gate, a city on the Eastern Coast of the United States. Mavoc is a bone-witch, a type of witch who works with the bone fae. Her type of magic is considered similar to necromancy by the magical world, and thus she is often shunned by other magical people. Part of Mavoc’s work as a bone witch consists of collecting bones, cleaning them, and either keeping or handing them over to the bone fae as a form of currency and food. Because of this, she has a large collection of bones in her apartment, including a few human bones, which is considered illegal under magical law. Another part of Mavoc’s work as a bone witch is to tend to what she refers to as “The Cemetery” and what the bone fae refer to as “The Treasury.” The Cemetery is an underground cavern filled with millions of graves of people who have handed their bodies over to the bone fae.
The vampire story (which does not have and official name) begins when Mavoc finds Cain, a vampire, collapsed in an alley next to her apartment. Mavoc takes him in and nurses him back awake. When he awakes, however, he is feral and attacks Mavoc, prompting Mavoc to break his tooth. She decides to take Cain in and legalizes herself as his guardian (never mind the fact that she is already the legal guardian of at least five other magic users).
Mavoc herself has a legal guardian, a bone fae named Femur (as ghosts are not permitted to be guardians), who is directly responsible for Mavoc’s training as a witch and acts a bit like an aunt towards Mavoc’s wards.

Mavoc has quite a few scars and I only drew a few of them unfortunately
she has a burn scar on her right arm from a training accident with Femur. the scar starts at her shoulder and extend all the way to her bicep
she has a large bite mark on her left forearm from her plant, a venus fly trap gifted to her by the green witch a few doors down after a failed spell.
While her friends jokingly call the plant Audrey Junior, Mavoc has individual names for each of the plants heads
Cain refers to the plant as Frank and The Boys, or at times just Frank, as Frank is the only head that can talk
the venus flytrap is usually small but can rapidly grow or shrink itself to attack prey
Mavoc wishes she only had one large bite mark from the plant
unfortunately the plant is blind so it just attacks whatever touches it with varying degrees of viciousness
on the same arm as the bite mark Mavoc has three scars going down her elbow perfectly parallel to each other. These are from her tripping and falling on a rather sharp drain grate by accident
also depicted in the drawing are Mavoc’s tattoos
Mavoc has two tattoos of sigils on the backs of her hands
The one on her right is Femur’s name, allowing her access to Femur’s magic when in battle and the ability to summon Femur should need arrive
The one on her left is her own name, it is a binding spell attaching her soul to her body to keep it from being stolen by other magic users
she’s also depicted wearing three of her necklaces i haven't decided which three they are

why isn’t Mavoc wearing shoes?
because she enjoys wearing socks more bc I was so frustrated trying to figure out how to draw hands I didn’t want to bother with shoes
I did want to color and shade her, but I was so tired I decided not to. I know this is being posted a day late I’m running a bit behind because of editing. I should be able to catch up tomorrow so I look forward to sharing that with y’all!
