Join us TONIGHT at IMAGE Gallery in Bushwick, for the closing of At The Bottom Of The Well, an exhibition of new works by Brooklyn-based Max "Elbows" Schieble. This is the artist’s first solo show with IMAGE Gallery, 1501 Broadway Brooklyn, NY, and is on view from January 8 - February 5*, 2016. 

"At The Bottom Of The Well," the debut solo exhibit from Elbows AKA Max Schieble, explores an unseen world both playful and dark, through original visual and audio works. Elbows' visual works span across drawings, paintings, and prints. His witty aesthetic combines vibrant oafs, legged-furniture, and polka dotted-limbs, with themes of isolation, uncertainty, and identity. Influenced by cubism, surrealism, and cartoons, Elbows' figures found on canvases and prints are multi-faced, and disjointed, contorting and unraveling to reveal lots of colorful layers. His drawings settle on a simpler palette of black and white, occasionally with a hint of color, depicting scenes both comedic and introspective. Working across multiple mediums, Elbows aims to create a more encompassing experience for the viewer. As a songwriter and producer, Elbows' style is rooted in jazz and hip hop. At The Bottom Of The Well includes a soundtrack composition, incorporating programmed drums, live instrumentation, and vocal samples lifted from classic songs and films. Additionally, ATBOTW will feature a curated playlist of songs that inspired the imagery of the show.
