a) the very early stages of the unstable molecule suits (before they even got their powers) were reed working on a personal project to find a clothing material that would provide a surface that would not irritate skin or feel bad to him b/c sensory things. he hadn't gotten very far with it when they took their cosmic trip but the irradiated material from their flight allowed him to make the suits that worked with his original ideas+worked with all of their powers. that's why he has so many clothes made out of the unstable molecules and in so many different styles... so he can keep himself comfortable and not have to deal w/ sensory overload from strange clothes !
b) stretchiness helps him stim unnoticed in public by focusing on controlling the density of wherever he wants so instead of flapping or tapping fingers or bouncing his leg or anything he'll absentmindedly tense toes or fingers or anything and release and then start again. on the other hand stretchy at home means his hyperfocus can last for days b/c he can stretch an arm into the kitchen to grab food or water without leaving his work. 8//
c) socializing is hard some days but he is very good at connecting with his kids on his better days and really good at teaching them in an engaging way and that's really beneficial for the ff kids... i'm running out of steam i need to think more but for now have this

BEN LIKES EMBARRASSINGLY COLORED FLORAL PATTERNS THAT YOUR GRANDPARENTS WOULDN’T EVEN WEAR they looks like wallpaper gone wrong but somehow their face makes up for it
THEIR STYLE IS A MIX BETWEEN 'I GOT THIS FROM AUNT MAY'S CLOSET' AND 'THE WORST OF THE 90S' AND IT'S AWFUL but somehow, facewise, they know how to make it work. thanks ben
