maxchildofzeus Nico didn't respond for a minute, he just shook his head and sighed. "I don't know," he said honestly. "...sometimes we do stupid things for the people we love." He spoke up again after a minute, though this was more mumbled, "But usually we do them to make sure the people we love are okay...not being tortured in an illegal, abusive facility." He smirked humorlessly to himself at that. He didn't really find it funny, of course. He hated when people like Will would tell him that he would 'look back on this and laugh'. There was nothing funny about any of this. But, that was the thing. It was so...not-funny, so /pathetic/ that sometimes he couldn't help but laugh at himself. He couldn't help but laugh at the thought that he'd spent most of his life in a cell, that he'd lost his leg because he was too useless to do anything about it, and that he didn't even have anyone to miss or worry about him. His whole life was such shit - he didn't even know how he was supposed to react to it. How would anyone react to that? Nico looked up quickly at the knock on the door, sniffing and trying to sit up more so he would be ready to yell or push someone out if Carmen or Hayden tried to come in again. He glanced over at Max to see his reaction, unsure if he would want the food or not. He didn't seem to react to the food - Nico wasn't surprised. During the time when Max was still asleep, the doctors had to keep him on an IV to make sure he didn't accidentally starve himself to death. He knew how shitty that was- so once he heard Carmen leave, he waited a beat before getting up to get the food. He glanced out to see if Carmen was there first, hesitating with the plate in his hands when he saw her hovering around the corner of the hallway. He didn't say anything, he just turned and shut the door behind him. He heard her sigh and quickly said, "You should eat," before Max would hear.

Max knelt beside Hugo, tears in his eyes at the sight of the beaten boy. "O deos... Hey, look at me, Hugo," he pay the other's cheek, desperately trying to get a response. He refused to look back down at the deep carving in the poor kid's arm. αίρέωμαι το αίμα (I choose blood). It was a warning. /Please let Hugo be okay,/ he prayed, silently, simultaneously vowing to get back at whoever did this, even if they were immortal. "Talk to me, kiddo. Say anything." -maxchildofzeus (I fixed it)
My character has been kidnapped because they are friends with yours. When found, they’re still alive, but with a three word message carved into their skin for yours. What does the message say and what does your muse do about it?maxchildofzeus
Hugo was startled from restless sleeping when he heard footsteps as someone neared him. He tried to pretend he was asleep, in knowingly pointless hopes that he would be left alone. His captors didn’t bother him too much - at least, not as much as they could. It really wasn’t that bad, he tried to tell himself. They fed him, probably more than he would have, had he not been with them (or so he had convinced himself). They didn’t hurt him so much, either. He tried NOT to think about that part, though. But when he heard the familiar voice, his eyes opened. He was shivering, covered in a cold sweat; his attempt to feign sleep was pathetic, embarrassing, at best. Instinctively, he drew his wounded arm to his chest. When it registered- when he recognized just who was in front of him, he stopped. Hoarse whispers and the murmur of his friend’s name left his lips in S-S-STUTTERS. Tears blurred his vision as he faced Max - finally face-to-face with the man responsible; the reason he was there. “M-Max…?

3. trapped in an elevator

Nico stood close to Max as they walked back to the hotel. He was almost bouncing. He finally got to come home with Max, and soon they would be going home.Nico loved that- he would actually have a home now.He stopped in front of the hotel, staring up at the building. He looked over when Carmen spoke, snapping him out of his thoughts."I’m just going to grab us some lunch, but you can head up if you want," she smiled kindly. Nico shrugged and looked to Max. He was sure they’d be fine in the five-minute trip from the door to their room.He smiled at Carmen when she waved to them as they headed inside. He looked up at Max, his smile brightening. He was excited. He was fidgeting anxiously as they waited for the elevator, wondering what the room would look like. He wondered what max’s house was like too, and if he’d like it there. If people would like him there. He tugged on his friend’s hand lightly, heading slightly nervously into the elevator. He’d never particularly liked elevators, even before this whole mess. But ever since he’d been locked up in solitary confinement, he’d been deathly claustrophobic. He was nervous to see how he would be able to hand elevators, or if that would be yet another thing that would set him apart.Everything was going fine, until Nico heard a creak. he frowned a bit, but tried to tell himself that he was imagining it, that he was just being paranoid. But it was hard to ignore the loud groan that came next, followed by the shuddering of the entire compartment. The elevator stopped moving. Nico’s heart leapt into his throat. He shrieked rather pathetically when the lights flickered, going out completely before dimming again, still twitching like in a horror movie. Nico was clinging onto Max tight enough to draw blood.Thoughts began to race through his head. The lab, that prison. The tiny cell. Dark. Cold. Empty, lifeless except for him. The panic that set in once the door was slammed shut and locked, the complete terror that filled him as he was left alone in the dark.Nico lunged for the buttons, slamming randomly, almost hyperventilating form the memories alone. Nothing happened. The lights flickered again."No…no no no!" he banged on the doors, rattling them, throwing himself against them. "HELP!" he screamed desperately, crazed, hysterical with panic. He couldn’t be left in here to die. He couldn’t return to the tiny, dark cell that had held him for so long. He just couldn’t. Tears streamed down his face."HELP! HELP PLEASE!"
