Artwork by Katharina Grosse Review of the exhibition High Noon Lumen 11th September – 1st November 2025 Galerie Max Hetzler, Berlin
She is definitely reaching toward the edge through sheer spaciousness. The whole space is filled with this breeze of urgency and instinct. It’s the neon orange, with its bold strokes, that sets the breeze in motion and shapes the space between the canvases, creating the very urge it carries. By this I mean she was brave enough to leave the walls empty; through that gesture she carved out a sense of vastness, allowing the paintings to press deeper into the room with their own inner depth.
I was pleasantly amazed by the exhibition, and I also had the chance to speak with her friend there, which without doubt clarified what my impressions of her work were. In my broken German and her English we simply nodded at the feeling we shared, and she said she would pass on my regards. :)
A fun fact: I had seen her work at another exhibition at the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin. Also a pleasant surprise!
Congratulations, Katharina!
