Maxie is a really funny side character. What inspired you to make him?
I just wanted a really funny but annoying witness that would rival Larry in terms of getting on every last nerve for Prosecutor Nick lol (good lord the cross examination is coming up next chapter and it’s fun...for me lol).
His personality wasn’t intitially in the concept of the character as the basic template was “annoying witness” lol.
So I literally have a long laundry list of dumb punny names I came up with to use for Ace Attorney in my notes for this fic. I figured the personality of the witness would come to me as I skimmed through these names. I landed on Maxie Mumm and then thought “omg what about a stereotypical skater dudebro”.
Yes originally Maxie was going to be a skateboarder!
But as I was coming up with some funny jokes for him he became more and more a 90s stereotype. Which still technically would work for a skater but then I wasn’t feeling it, but I wanted to keep some of the 90s attitude and look for him, then I decided I’d make him a stereotypical SURFER dudebro pulled out of the 90s which felt even more cliche and dumb and perfect because California. And I immediately loved this idea and ran full throttle with it because using the most stereotypical surfer personality combined with shameless surfer lingo stereotype is absolutely hilarious to me.
