may’s fic year in review
I wrote and posted one thing for this fandom in 2018. ONE. THING.
It was a pretty big thing, for me at least. It was my most successful fic to date, if we count kudos, attention, being book clubbed (?!?!), having an incredible time responding to as many comments as I humanly could (!!!!!!), posting at a heart-stopping rate, and enjoying the fuck out of everyone’s responses. (I do in fact count all of these things.)
I haven’t talked about this a ton publicly, but my life circumstances were kind of sort of going down the tubes when I started posting TBH last Christmas. They got worse afterward, and stayed bad for a long time, and have only recently kind of sort of started showing signs of improvement. This has meant that I’ve had to put a lot more focus on my home life and on my non-writing business.
When I am writing, I’m working on things that will (eventually or immediately) bring in some income. This is why you haven’t seen more from me on ao3, since TBH finished posting. I’m working on a couple of long projects that I think will be of high interest to Sherlock fandom once they’re ready to go. (I’ll definitely keep you posted.)
All of this is to say that, despite the general downward drift of things in 2018, writing and posting TBH remains the absolute highlight of my year, and gave me the boost I needed to carry me through one of the roughest patches I’ve ever had to weather. I adore you, Sherlock fandom! You’re the best.

This is a 90k johnlock fic, in 21 chapters, and is complete. New chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, over the next seven weeks, beginning December 25.

Changes I’ve made to the next chapter have meant that it is now very long! Extra juicy content!
Over the weekend I had an extra work gig which means I made a bit of extra $$ so yay me!
But, ^ means I had less time to edit, so today’s update is going to go up late tonight. Alas, I work today, too.
I wasn’t expecting to split this particular chapter but I might do that. (22 whole entire chapters of tbh? Which idk, is that good news? Prolonging the agony? Drawing out the delightful experience? No clue!)

Found in The Burning Heart bookmarks. Username redacted because I never know what the etiquette is around bookmarks--they seem to me to be more for other readers than for the author. However, I wanted to reply as best I could to this one, because “I don’t usually go for this sort of thing but I’m so glad I read this” is one of my absolute favourite sorts of response to my work.
I’ve heard from a few readers who didn’t want to get into tbh because they don’t like reading John or Sherlock with anyone else.
