J.J. is doing very well with the news that Parker is leaving. I shouldn’t be surprised – this is his reality. We take care of babies for a while and then they leave. Best case scenario is that I’m the only one who sheds any tears next week after we say good-bye to Parker!
J.J. was in the nursery with me this morning and saw Parker’s open suitcase that I’ve started to pack and he asked me what it was. I told him it was Parker’s things that he’ll be taking to his new home.
“Baby Parker go new home, live with new family?”
I also told him that, someday, another baby will come stay with us. J.J. declared that he wants a girl next time (but I checked and he’s OK with another boy).
Meanwhile, I have a new homefinder with my agency. I’ve only met her once, so I thought I’d reach out to connect with her and help her get to know our home. Unfortunately, she’s on vacation next week, so I reached out to our program coordinator instead.
I’m glad I did, because apparently my home is being discussed as a possible option for a 5-month-old baby who (she thinks) is being freed for adoption soon. No more information than that. But the idea of being able to bring a child into my home knowing that I won’t have to climb back on the foster care roller coaster again? That would be priceless...
