     EYES  scan  the  areas  around  them , they  weren’t  safe .  no  place  was  safe . coughs  leave  his  throat . raggedy . deep . painful . hand  wipes the  trickling  blood  from  the  new  gash  on  his  cheek .  (  that’s  gonna  make  a  NASTY  scar ! )  he  bites  his  lower  lip , denying  the  help  from  the  other  man .  he  had  to  do  this  on  his  own .  he  wasn’t  w e a k  ; delicate .
