before i got to know you a bit better than just following you for peaky, i referred to you as the peaky oracle and i still do bc to me, your theories and analysis are spot on. your comments about alfie have me actually doubting that he'll die but please please PLEASE prove me and brenna wrong, o wise emma the peaky oracle 🙏🏻
OK, ily Kallie. This is the NICEST thing lady. *calls up my man Apollo*
Apparently this is a tricky one, the usual PB meta is telling me that Aberama Gold looks like he has real potential as the ally-or-enemy that Alfie has been since s2 (and we know Aidan’s in s5), although that doesn’t necessarily mean Mr Solomons is done for. Alfie is not looking terribly healthy, possibly the ‘syph’ is slowly seizing him in it’s grip, with attendant megalomania and narcissism which in turn may mean he takes a moment to exploit Tommy’s weaknesses (a series in which Alfie doesn’t double-cross Tommy is as likely as pigs flying). Which in turn may mean Tommy sees fit to shoot him - either to kill or maim. It’s all sheer guesswork.
In the real world: if Peaky was SK’s only focus, and the decision was all his, I can’t imagine him writing Alfie out because Tom Hardy is too big a pull-factor for the show and his face-offs with Tommy are becoming legendary. Fans would probably be less happy with Alfie being offed than any other potential death. Yep, there are very real lucrative reasons for retaining him. (btw I reckon everyone bar Tommy, Polly and Arthur is at risk this series, I’m thinking of doing odds lol.) However, Tom Hardy has the most call on his time of any of the actors on PB and although his filming schedule for the show doesn’t seem too demanding, perhaps it has become a touch inconvenient. He and SK did a deal for Locke and Taboo and maybe something else is going on behind the scenes for this as well that will spell Alfie’s demise; the narrative arc of that need not be too artificial.
TL;DR - I have no idea :))) xx
