what did you think of the christmas / new years DW special

oh my god okay so first things first, that episode had a really questionable set up:

choosing a black guy to develop the daleks to support the police during protests was certainly an...interesting casting choice...?????

besides this major hang up i have with the ep;

i LOVED the fam's reactions to thirteen returning, i LOVED thirteen and jack's hug, i LOVED thirteen's heart to heart with ryan and i was really satisfied with the closure of ryan's arc, LOVE the very important act of ryan and graham choosing to leave minutes after jack tells yaz she won't get that choice (because she's in love with the doctor), LOVE her giving them psychic paper, i LOVED the obvious parallels between jack and martha and jack and yaz, LOVED the incidental bisexual lighting introduced by the UV in the osaka dalek facility, LOVE that gwen cooper is mentioned, LOVE yaz's frankly decimated emotional state through the episode

very sad about the sonic, want to know more about jack's crimes - what the hell did he do to get himself locked up in the same place as the doctor - Genocidal Serial Killer Supreme???? VERY sad about the 'spare tardis' - the doctor so easily sacrificed it, this incredible thing, and there's no doubt that yaz would feel connected to it after ten months spent inside... (also the continued existence of the spare tardis would be an interesting thread to explore further in the future), and i want to personally take chibs to court for denying us a thasmin hug

finally - i think it could have really used another half hour to give us that good reunion content...feed us chibs!!!!!

I stumbled upon this blog today, and it's absolutely fantastic. What type of history/english (depending on what you're majoring in) is your favorite to study?

Nora: My major field in history is the Atlantic world, with special interests in the Spanish conquest and cartography in the Atlantic. I also have minors in Archaeology and Medieval & Renaissance Studies. I'm also interested in public history and museum studies.

Wilson: While my senior comprehensive project will be in fiction writing, most of my studies focus on postmodernism and the second half of the 20th century, both in America and abroad. The one exception to that rule is Shakespeare, whose genius never ceases to surprise.

Jill: My senior comprehensive project is also in fiction writing, and will consist of 3 short stories about boarding school/coming of age that will clock in at around 60 pages. In the meantime (read: class), I study structuralism and formalism with particular regards to children's literature, and modernism.
