Maynard grew up in an orphanage, so he doesn't mind that he's expected to help Ledaleane by digging for clay. If that's all he has to do in order to have a family of his own, he'll dig all day!
They were able to put in a bunk for Maynard... I have no idea where we'll store the other two lol.
I can't tell if Maynard is excited to be told to interact with a dog, or confused.

Whelp, they rolled for 3. I honestly don't mind it even though I wanted to avoid more characters because it's so in keeping with Albine's family - her mother adopted the Newsons after the war, and the van Aalsburgs in general are known for having a brood.
Anyway, meet Maynard Smith! He may get a surname change when he becomes an adult. Also in terms of status indenture it doesn't extend to children - so even though his adopted mother Albine is indentured, he will not be.
(Granted, there are plenty of incentives to indenture himself, and few to remain free. His status will still be very low and he'll also have to leave home and be responsible for caring for himself if he chooses not to.)
