#AFewThings 1. The Corporate Desert: Among Fortune 500 companies, there are 2 Black CEO's. That's less than 1%. 2.Negotiation101: Pay attention to the way media and public figures characterize the effort to "defund police departments". LA Mayor @GilGarcetti agree to freeze the police budget. NYC Mayor @BillDeBlazio says he will not defund his police department. Minneapolis Mayor @JacobFrey says he will not defund the police but will institute reforms. These are three different positions yet all starting points for negotiations. Sadly, #MayorGarcetti is the only position that is a open and honest one. The NYC mayor has Black children and presides over one of the most racists PDs in modern history. Although #MayorFrey supported firing George Floyd's killers, he does not seem willing to work with the city council to institute systemic change. 3. In A Rush? Texas and Florida have had at least 1000 new Covid-19 cases every day for the last six days. Every state that opened early had an increase in new cases compared to two weeks ago. 4. Media Miscoverge: Every media outlet has a story on protestors possibly contracting #Covid19. Where are the stories about cases from Memorial Day, beach outings, peotestors that protested state stay-at-home orders and states that opened early? Is the virus restricted to people protesting equal rights? 5. Transition: RIP @edbradley (pictured 2 &3). Your journalism career on @CBS @60Mins was inspiring. RIP #BonniePointer (pictured 4 & 5). You created unforgettable music as a solo artist and with your sisters. 6. Remembering History: The last curfew in NYC was in 1943. A black soldier just home from war was murdered by a NYPD officer. There was an uprising https://www.instagram.com/p/CBOKKlgBsh3bKWYytciSeGN_t9N01u_ilfkJtY0/?igshid=en392olfgbo3
