Swamp Star | Baldurs Gate 3
Dealing with Mayrina and her story arc while also romancing Astarion will never not be the funniest shit to me.
Just helping her figure out her zombie husband problem while your undead boyfriend is idly standing by and making wise cracks.
Especially the part where he gets ressurected and she's like "He's still dead! What am I gonna do???"
Idk girl blow him? That's how I got mine to settle down.

Dr. Boils enters the game… As a deep gnome druid-necromancer. Whether he likes it or not, he’s smol Hyve’s mentor too.
I have no plans to draw Hyve’s life before Dr. Boils but to expound a bit, they were a ward of the Temple of Kelemvor. The temple took them in from their original adoptive family after Hyve murdered their parents' children. The priests controlled the little bhaalspawn through routine, prayer and guilt but couldn’t stamp down their curiosity towards the temple’s forbidden archives.
I think they'll be fine. maybe
Round 1 — Match 25 / 77 — Halsin vs. Mayrina
Halsin is a recruitable Companion who can be romanced by characters of any gender. He is a Wood Elf and a Circle of the Moon Druid with the Outlander background. Halsin can be first found in the Shattered Sanctum during Act One as an Attached Follower or as a Camp Follower. Having recently resigned as Archdruid of the Emerald Grove, Halsin seeks to create a perfect balance between nature and civilization as well as find a cure for the Shadow Curse that has haunted his home for the past century. Halsin is the only character with access to the spell Wild Shape: Cave Bear.
"halsin left the grove for five minutes and the whole place immediately started doing fascism. that’s not his fault but it IS extremely funny."
"Halsin is a genuinely kind, competent adult in a game full of disasters. He’s calm under pressure, he actually cares about the people around him, and when he decides something matters (like fixing the shadow curse), he commits. Also he’s built like a statue."
"halsin is one of my favourite companions because his arc isn’t about chasing power, it’s about cleaning up a mess that should’ve never been allowed to spread. he could’ve stayed in the grove and played politics forever, but instead he’s like “no, i’m going to the shadow-cursed lands, because this is wrong,” and then you watch him do the work. not in a flashy cutscene way. in a stubborn, practical way. talking to people, following leads, sitting with grief, literally walking into a cursed battlefield because he refuses to leave it broken. and the thaniel stuff makes him hit harder because it’s not “save the world,” it’s “save one wounded thing and the world gets a little less unbearable.” also i appreciate that he feels older without being written like a grandpa; he’s patient, he’s steady, he’s warm, and he’s still fully capable of looking at you like “yes, i know what you’re doing.” sir i am simply existing near you. please."
vs.
Mayrina is a human who can be first encountered in Act One. She is the widow of Connor Vinderblad and sister to Demir and Johl.
"people get mad at mayrina for yelling, but like… her brothers are dead, her husband is dead, she’s pregnant, she’s trapped in a hag’s house eating enchanted pie, and everyone around her is either lying to her or trying to use her. i’d be screaming too!!! also her calling ethel “auntie” while the situation is blatantly evil… it hurts. that’s how manipulation works!!!"
"mayrina is one of those characters i appreciate more on replay because her arc doesn’t stop at “rescued damsel.” she survives, she keeps going, she stays complicated. you can hand her that stupid wand (BITTER DIVORCE… lmao) and watch her cling to a zombie husband because grief makes you do insane math; you can also keep it / break it later and it lands like a real choice, not a morality quiz. and then act 3 rolls around and she’s still here!! running with the hag survivors!! like she’s not just “the hag quest girl,” she’s part of a whole little network of people who got chewed up by ethel and decided to fight back instead of quietly disappearing. and i love that she can be prickly about help, too - because she’s learned what “help” costs. anyway. i defend her. she’s a mess. she’s trying. she deserves a nap and a therapist and a restraining order against every fairy tale creature in faerun."
"just love when you help a character and she doesn't have to kiss your ass and praise you and give you things for that. She is angry at you the first time you rescue her, and I found that so refreshing. And she loves her husband even in zombie form, I respect that."
