Nijigaku Flower Music♪ STORY with You!: Dandelion Duo Cast Comment
[This article was published in Love Live! Days August 2025, released June 30, 2025]
Of the six flower-themed songs, Kasumi and Emma will sing the Dandelion song! Once again, we received comments from cast members Mayu Sagara-san and Maria Sashide-san. We're curious to hear not only their impressions of dandelions, but also, based on that, what kind of song they're aiming for with their upcoming live show!!
Q.1 Please share your thoughts on your member being chosen for the “Dandelion” duo
Maria Sashide (Emma Verde): We heard so many different perspectives during the field trip, from associations based on the characteristics of the flowers to explanations of their meanings, but the idea that was most relatable to me was Emma wearing dandelions. Actually, from the moment I saw the options, I thought Dandelion would be the best fit for her, so I wondered if lots of people had the same impression of her as I did.
Mayu Sagara (Kasumi Nakasu): There was much discussion at the field trip, so I was super happy and at the same time relieved that she was chosen for Dandelion! I'm also glad her partner is Emma-chan, and I'm looking forward to the song that'll be woven together by their two voices! The other members match their flowers wonderfully too! Once again, thank you to everybody who voted♡
Q.2 What do you see as the similarities between your member and dandelions?
Maria Sashide: Dandelions, which are often seen on the side of the road in spring, give a simple impression, but they also convey a sense of strength, blooming even on concrete, and growth, as they transform into fuzzy seeds that travel away on the wind. I felt that this was similar to Emma, who left her country to become a school idol.
Mayu Sagara: Even when trampled, they bloom vigorously and beautifully anywhere, which I think is perfect for Kasumin! The yellow flowers match her color too! Its meaning of “sincere love” also feels like something that's deeply rooted in Kasumin! The way it transforms into a cute, fluffy ball feels a little cunning (lol).
Q.3 Please share any stories or memories you have related to dandelions
Maria Sashide: I have looots of memories of playing with dandelions when I was a child! I liked blowing the seeds away, but what I enjoyed most was removing the cap before the fuzz appeared; I always looked for the flowers that looked like they'd come off easily without having to use much force. When I saw the white fluff peeking out after removing it, I felt a sense of accomplishment, like I'd helped a snake shed its skin, and I loved it.
Mayu Sagara: There were lots of them growing along the road to school, and I remember picking the fluffy ones and blowing on them to make them fly away! I heard that you can make coffee from dried dandelion roots, and I always wanted to try it when I was a kid, but I never got around to it… (lol). Although these flowers are a common part of my everyday life, they fill me with nostalgia and affection!
Q.4 Please give a message to those who are participating through the field trips (the readers)
Maria Sashide: Thank you for helping Yu-chan with her songwriting! I don't know yet what this duet will be like, but please look forward to seeing what kind of dandelions Emma and Kasumi will show you! And don't forget the live performance in January 2025! I'm also nervous about what exactly a full concert entails, but I hope we can have a fun time together! Please come and cheer us on!
Mayu Sagara: Thank you everyone for participating in “Nijigaku Flower Music♪”! I could feel your love in your suggestions, which you put so much thought into! But it's not over just because the members have been decided! The music production starts here, so I'd be happy if you could continue to share your thoughts with us♡ Let's rock the live shooooow!
