Togami Twins AU

I held off on this cause I wanted to draw something for it but I guess I can just make some pics later or something.

This was admittedly inspired by posts I reblogged(on my personal/main blog) made by ninjara124*, at some point my friend & I imagined a little for it** & then recently I started thinking about more stuff I added to it on my own.

**Mostly a name & admittedly Twogami just being a nice guy that will throw hands with Byakuya over Makoto & Asumi(OC) being harmed at one point by Byakuya's behavior in an RP. So I guess Byakuya is the more serious twin while Twogami is the one more willing to show his emotions.

So as the title says this is meant to be an AU were Byakuya & Twogami are identical twins. Going off some of the info I'm aware of/remember of Byakuya(like the fact he's the youngest of his siblings) I imagine Twogami to be the older of the two.

Also I know about Imposter/Twogami's real design from the DR3 anime, if you choose to imagine that as canon* then in this Imposter looked like that cause he was having an identity crisis & tried to change his appearance as much as possible when not pretending to be people. He kind of gave up on the look after turning into Ultimate Despair.(Although he might sometimes bring it back to piss someone off or hide)

*While DR3 had some interesting stuff I don't think it works as an epilogue to everything taking place in the universe of DR1 & DR2. Reviving Hope's Peak was a bad idea, not sure about some retcons & the hypnosis videos Junko used are a big issue. It feels like they didn't know how to use Monaca at some point since she just decides to give up which is bad considering her role behind the scenes in the Future Arc before just fucking off. I'm getting off topic & don't want to ramble too long on this, the point is that I have issues with it & don't take it as canon.

My idea is that Twogami & Byakuya were twins raised by their mom up until a certain age when they were taken to where ever their dad was/chose for them to live then be trained to be Togami heirs.(Before eventually fighting for the spot) The two use to be close but started to drift apart thanks to their father's training/behavior towards his kids. The two use to dress up as kids(can be used as an excuse for Polaris) & Twogami occasionally impersonated Byakuya as a way to help him out.

By the time they had to fight each other & their older siblings Twogami had a strained relationship with Byakuya which hurt the older twin since he couldn't do anything about it. When Twogami & his older siblings got disowned/exiled from the Togami family it was a hard blow to Twogami/Imposter as he felt like he lost any connections he had with Byakuya. He just wanted his twin brother back but the family he both hated but was upset over being exiled from had done a lot of damage to the both of them.

On some level Byakuya does feel guilt over becoming distant, cutting contact & doing nothing about the exile but struggles to understand it thanks to trauma. Thanks to being forced to think a certain way by his dad he also denies feeling bad that any of his siblings especially with his twin. Thanks to trauma he doesn't really bring up that he has a twin which kind of seems like he denies he has one.

All of this has led to Twogami struggling with his identity leading to turning to whatever led to him becoming Imposter. At some point thanks to trauma & falling deeper into his talent he ended up with an identity crisis & losing his identity. While he remembers Byakuya he struggles to connect/recognize his past identity. Byakuya has a copy of files on Imposter's past self hidden away(kind of as a form of coping) so if Byakuya & Imposter were given the chance to reconnect Byakuya can show him the papers or help him legally change them if Imposter decides to make a new identity for himself.

Some things to note:

Thanks to using his talent & making it hard to find info on himself it allowed Imposter to end up in Class 77(for context that class is the year above Byakuya's)

While Imposter is a little bitter & is struggling with himself he does care(which is why he tries to be leader for everyone during DR2 before getting killed)

Junko used his relationship with Byakuya & his insecurities with identity to manipulate him(probably used other shit but I dunno)

Thanks to being a part of Ultimate Despair(also probably cause Junko thought the irony was funny) Imposter was spared from the wipe out of the Togami clan/anyone exiled from the Togami clan. Probably for irony/cause she found it funny Junko made him be one of the people to kill the others.

Thanks to the support of his class in the past(before Junko fucked everything up) & what time he had with them in the simulator(especially Hajime's support) it's made him want to give up his talent & make an identity of his own after he takes time to recover.(Only using his talent if needed or sometimes mimicking voices to tease someone)

Byakuya & Imposter do eventually reconnect thanks to Makoto & Hajime's involvement

Thanks to being a terrorist due to his & class 77's actions as Ultimate Despair it's kind of tricky to allow him on legal documents back into the Togami family.(Byakuya wanted to allow him back into the family as a sign of them being family again) Byakuya however acknowledges him as his family again after they reconnect & work on their relationship.

My friend I think at some point named Twogami Kasu when we were doing RPs involving Twogami in the twin AU. I didn't think much on it but I looked up "kasu" recently.

Kasu apparently means "leftovers/remnants/by-product", I don't think that was his legal name but I could see it as a name he used after becoming Imposter since he feels like he's leftovers that were thrown away. Also fitting since he's a remnant of despair now.

I imagine he uses a different name after reconnecting with Byakuya & working on himself now that he's no longer the Imposter nor Ultimate Despair.

I kind of imagine Byakuya was the one to catch him when they were dealing with collecting the ultimate/remnants of despair.

I know that somewhere it was mentioned that class 77 willingly went into the simulator cause of something involving Junko but I kind of imagine Kasu/Imposter managed to end up slightly lucid & went willingly cause of Byakuya.

Byakuya despite everything ended up talking to Kasu when he realized this was his missing twin. It was a struggle due to what both had become(Byakuya cause of their dad/being trained to be a Togami, Kasu cause of ultimate despair/leftover bitterness & losing himself) but they eventually were able to have a conversation for the first time in years. Both struggled but wanted to reconnect if there was still a chance since as far as Kasu knew he was to be killed when they were sent to the island. He eventually went with Byakuya willingly, feeling this was for the best & it'd keep his brother safe.

The two talked again on the boat, Byakuya struggled to talk to him again thanks to his guilt getting to him as he waits for Kasu to wake up from the coma caused by the simulator. Makoto goes on to befriend the DR2 group(I like to imagine at some point the DR1 survivors & Komaru do to some extent too) which leads to Hajime & Makoto talking & agreeing to help the twins reconnect. It takes some time(mostly on Byakuya's part) but they do eventually patch things up & work on their relationship again. While not as close as before they're able to see each other as brothers again with Byakuya wanting to see him as part of the family even if he can't publicly.

Like I said I didn't feel like drawing shit at the moment however I could grab a Kisekae pic I made back in 2015. I then looked at some others & realized I updated Makoto at some point & it'd be better to just make a new pic.(Needed to reinstall AdobeAIR & Kisekae 2 anyway)

After fucking around(been a long time since I used this dollmaker plus improvements/new stuff was added) I was able to adjust everyone for a redo of the pic from 2015.(Then had to fuck around to get a good image size) This is as long as I can make Kasu/Twogami's shirt without the game turning it into a dress(As in literal skirt added) & Asumi makes a cameo.

Anyway this is the best I can get for now of Twogami for the twins AU. The version of him in the sweatervest is admittedly what I imagined he wore post-DR2 when he decides to give up being the imposter & make his own identity.

I made this long before I found out Makoto wears a similar outfit(but with a darker sweater vest & with a tie on) at the literal end of DR3 as the principle of the new Hope's Peak. I might change Kasu's outfit a little later like swap the sweater vest for an actual vest.

The idea is that Kasu & the other remnants of despair changed their outfits after they each woke up from the simulator.(I imagine they were in their ultimate despair outfits but some were in medical gowns) Kasu went for something simple but well dressed which led to this outfit.

Asumi is here cause I admittedly imagine Kasu became very close with her back when she first awoke even though he was meant to be part of Ultimate Despair. He reconnected with her thanks to Makoto after Kasu woke up from his coma caused by his death in the simulator.
