So here's a random fandom knit.
In August 2008 I picked a book out of the library shelves by it's cover. Well, more by it's name really. I read the book in one sitting and then gave it to all my friends to read. I ordered the book for myself and read it and borrowed it to friends who never gave it back. I took up the habit of buying this book every time I found a copy, either in Finnish or English. I had my own beat up copy but now I could just give out cheap second hand copies to friends and not worry about not getting them back.
The book is called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. And if you think I had to type that name into my phone, you don't know me at all. My predictive text knows the name well.
My love of the book has not lessened through the years. The characters are friends of mine I get to visit whenever I like. The epistolary form is just brilliant in this aspect.
In 2018 a film was released based on the book. While there's no way a film could ever achieve what the book has, I still enjoy it too. And I absolutely love all the knitwear in it.
Juliet, played by Lily James, is wearing a waffle pattern cardigan at one point and I just had to make it when I found a similar pattern.
In the following photos I'm also wearing a tam that's similar to one that Juliet wears in another part of the film.
There are so many other projects that I. Waiting to find the perfect yarn for in this book😂
