Day Thirteen: Alt Prompt 1: Sleep Deprivation

Anakin was wandering the Temple. Again. He was exhausted, or at least, his body was, and sore, still recovering from the last mission where he was blown back by an exploding tank. His body begged for rest, but his mind would not shut up, so he is here, trudging along, arm wrapped loosely around his aching midsection. He didn’t expect to see anyone up at night. And in all honesty, he didn’t. Not at first. In fact, he tripped over something, his own two feet probably, before seeing anyone. He falls hard to the floor, letting out a surprised oomph . Then he felt a clawed hand on the back of his head. “Knight Skywalker?” Then a small clucking sound of disapproval. Anakin groans.

Day Twenty-Five: Amnesia

His… what? He had a wife? This beautiful, kind woman was his wife? He couldn’t believe it. It was too good to be true. She reached out almost hesitantly and took his arm. “Let’s walk to my office. I don’t think we ought to have this conversation here.” He nodded mutely and allowed her to lead him to her office. He looked around, taking in the space. It was organized and looked far more inviting than the Chancellor’s office had. Padme left him standing in the middle of the room and walked over to her desk. She wrote something down on a piece of flimsiplast and walked over to him again. “This is my address. If you’re comfortable,” she swallowed, “you can come by tonight and we’ll… talk. If not, it’s okay—”

“Hey,” he cut her off, offering her a smile. “I’d love to come by. I think Obi-Wan wants to work through some saber forms with me, but I’ll come over later tonight.” She looked incredibly relieved and his chest tightened. He had no memory of her or their relationship, but he felt safe with her. Her uncertainty about how to approach this without making him uncomfortable made warmth and fondness bloom in his chest.

“Come on, Skyguy,” Ahsoka whined. “You promised saber practice today.” Anakin sighed. He looked more tired than usual, and normally Ahsoka would have said it was okay to skip it. But they hadn’t practiced in four days. And she was getting bored. While she enjoyed what time they spent at the Temple, she found herself growing restless with each passing day. Sparring would help get rid of the on-edge feeling that had been steadily growing.

I was going to do somethig different for this prompt. Then there was this absolutely horrible customer who stayed past close and then said I was rude af to her so I got really pissed. Here's the result. I'm sorry, dear readers. Please accept the fluff in the beginning as a peace offering.

“They are truly adorable, Anakin,” Obi-Wan said. Anakin felt so full of pride, he thought he might actually burst.

“Aren’t they?” he preened. Padme handed Luke to Anakin. Obi-Wan gave Leia a light kiss and passed her to Padme.

They were so small. Luke squirmed and kicked his little feet. Anakin bowed his head and held him closer, pressing a feather-light kiss to his forehead. Then Luke yawned and Anakin could hardly stand it. His son was so adorable. “Oh,” he crooned, “you’re so precious, aren’t you? You’re my little sunshine.”

Obi-Wan woke up in the middle of the night to an odd shuffling sound. He sat up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. It didn’t entirely work. But then he heard the shuffling sound again, followed by a quiet plunk . What was that? He got up and padded to his door quietly. He opened it and Anakin jumped out of his skin and scampered back. Obi-Wan blinked, taking in the scene. Anakin had a blanket and— was he planning to sleep on the floor? Obi-Wan was confused.

Day Five: Collapses / Keeps Getting Back Up

The debris came out of nowhere. Even now, Anakin doesn’t know how he missed it. He had been leading the line, shouting orders over the blasterfire. And he’d even heard the tank blow up on his left. When the durasteel made impact with the side of his head, he saw stars. The world darkened around him and he crashed to the ground. Dimly, he heard the concerned voices of his men, and the lighter sound of Ahsoka asking if he was alright. He had to get up. The battle was still continuing around him. Ahsoka had stepped in front of him and was blocking the blasterfire to keep him from getting hit. He could hear her sabers blocking the bolts. He needed to get to his feet. But he couldn’t see past the floaters. He couldn’t stop the world from spinning. He needed to get up. Taking a breath, he started to get to his feet. The world tilted before his eyes and he was suddenly back on the ground. He’d apparently fallen back down hard enough that Ahsoka heard him collapse.

Day Fifteen: Alt 2: Apologies

“How are you feeling, Padawan?” Obi-Wan asked, gently smoothing his thumb back and forth over Anakin’s hand. Anakin grimaced.

“Numb. My stomach feels funny.” Obi-Wan smiled softly.

“The healers have you on a high dose of pain medication right now. You likely won’t feel much of anything for the time being. As for your stomach, you were impaled, remember?” Anakin frowned. He did remember. He remembered pushing Ahsoka away just in time so she wouldn’t get hurt, then getting a sharp piece of debris from a blown tank lodged in his abdomen.

“Ahsoka?” he asked.

“She’s alright. Sleeping now, actually.” Obi-Wan nodded towards the corner of the room. Ahsoka was curled up on the chair there.

“Oh.”

At that moment, Healer Bant entered. She looked over Anakin’s vitals, and asked how the pain was. Seeming satisfied with his response, she told him to call her if he needed anything and left. Anakin turned his gaze back to Obi-Wan. He wondered if Padme had been told what happened. An unfortunate result of keeping their marriage a secret was that she was not always informed when he was injured. Far too many times, he would have to explain after the fact, when he found himself at her door when he was left to recover from whatever injury he’d received in battle. And she’d always be worried. It was times like these where he always thought that there had to be a better way. She deserved better than word getting to her through the grapevine, or from himself, days or even weeks after the fact, depending on how long he had to spend in medical.

Day Twenty-Four: Protected by an Enemy

Anakin groaned and hunched over. His entire body hurt. He just wanted to close his eyes and let sleep claim him. Or unconsciousness. He didn’t care. Dooku walked over to him. “Skywalker, listen to me.”

“I don’t think I have much of a choice,” he groaned. His limbs spasmed from the electrocution and his tongue felt heavy.

“At the start of this war, I told your master something he seems to have forgotten. Anakin tilted his head up to meet Dooku’s gaze with some difficulty.

“What do you mean?”

“What if I told you the Senate is being manipulated by a Sith Lord?”
