No matter how much I say I was heavily influenced into buying the unsafe rattle trap that was Bianca the BMW, I loved her nonetheless. She was my first fast car, and I had so many plans for her, but so little money for them. A part of me misses this car for all the things it saw me through - the end of a relationship, but also the beginning of a new one, partly of which I can thank Bianca for.
I certainly didn’t expect to make the huge change from a E36 3-series to a 2013 Mazda CX-5.
I always liked the style of the CX-5’s in their plain, normal ways, and what originally caught my eyes was that damn, they looked classy as fuck in black. I was in for a shock when it came to the interior though:
Heated. Red. Leather. Seats.
After that, Mabel the Mazda was constantly coming up with more and more things to impress me with. Sunroof was always a big thing for me, remote start and working navigation were luxuries I thought I’d never enjoy this much, and who else can say they’ve successfully fit a small couch in the back of their SUV?
I was originally stoked to have Mabel for her AWD in the winter, but now that it’s December 1st, where’s all the snow? Part of me is a little salty that I could’ve had my dream MINI Cooper at this point instead and still felt safe on the winter roads with a good set of snow tires, but another part of me knows I’ll be thankful for AWD come February; plus there are already plenty of adventures that Mabel has taken us on, from exploring up Meachen Creek Falls, camping in Donald, and stargazing on the Kimberley backroads. I’ll have plenty of time for my MINI Cooper dreams come summer.
Until then, we adventure on with Mabel the Mazda!
