Okay, so Maze revealing her true face to her human girlfriend for the first time. Fluffy but with a little bit of a subtle "oh reader finds it hot"??? Please
Oh of course! I hope you like it! :D
Title: Her True Face
Warnings: abusive (ex) girlfriend
The longer Maze thought about it, the more she realised that stupid human phrase had a possible element of truth.
Maybe opposites do attract.
And you were certainly a complete opposite to her.
Originally Maze spared you little to no thought. You were just another human who somehow managed to get hired as a bartender. Originally maze paid you no mind, you were just human after all. Maybe just someone to have a quick fuck, but nothing serious. Unfortunately for her, that didn’t happen. A very small part of her was impressed with your loyalty. Most other humans would’ve gladly given into her.
You were… grating. Ok, that was unfair to you but honestly, that was how she felt about you in the beginning. Eternally optimistic, happy and just a sickening nice person. You were also very loyal to your (at the time) girlfriend, so no chance of Maze even getting a fuck from you.
But that didn’t stop you from wanting to be her friend, something that Maze had no interest in being. You were just another one of Lucifer’s wholesome little humans that he’d somehow taken a shine to. Initially she couldn’t quite understand it. You weren’t interesting like his detective. You were just nice.
You didn’t treat her any differently from anyone else. Admittedly, you didn’t know that she was a demon and it was entirely possible that your opinion of her would change if you knew this. But part of Maze didn’t want to think about that. Loath she was to admit it, she valued your friendship. Even if that was all you were willing to be with her.
But slowly she allowed you to get closer. Your constant persistence slowly chipped down her walls. As the two of you became closer Maze came to realise that you weren’t as soft as you first appeared. Underneath it you had a fairly dark sense of humour, a sense of humour that only tended to come out around her. You definitely weren’t as sweet as you made yourself out to be. While she wasn’t happy with the situation, Maze was content to just be your friend. It meant she got to stay close to you.
Well, until everything changed one day when you came in with a blackeye. You had pitifully tried to cover it up with makeup and then made up pathetic excuses of how you ‘walked into a cupboard’. Maze didn’t need you confirmation to know what had happened and really, what she did next was the only logical thing to do. Yes, humans probably would’ve gone to the police. With how much Decker seemed to like you, it would be a certainty that your (ex) girlfriend would get locked up.
However, Maze and Lucifer weren’t human. Really, there’s nothing wrong with a little bit of torture, especially when it was against someone who hurt one of the few people that Maze… didn’t completely hate. The only thing that wasn’t meant to happen was for you to walk in halfway through. You were clearly shocked and terrified but Maze had been around long enough to see something else in your eyes- lust.
Maze had thought that you’d move away after the revelation about what she really was. Instead you once again surprised her. You stayed. In LA. At Lux. With her. It took months before you once again opened up to her but when you did it was to ask her out. As a thank you for getting rid of your ex.
And the rest, as they ask, is history. Another human phrase that Maze didn’t completely hate.
“Ah good, you’re here. Thought I’d have to send a search party out for you!”
Maze took a deep breath as she leant against the door to your flat. The two of you had been together for six months but now Maze wanted to be fully open and honest with you. To show you a side of her that few other people had hardly seen.
“Mazie? Everything ok?”
You stuck your head out of the kitchen, a speck of flour on your cheek from where you had been cooking. Maze couldn’t help but smile at it. With anyone else she would’ve seen it as an irritation but with you it was oddly endearing.
Fuck, you were making her soft.
You frowned at Maze’s lack of response and slowly approached her. You put a hand on her shoulder and Maze said,
“We need to talk.”
You tensed at her words and she quickly added,
“I haven’t been entirely honest with you.”
Well, all that seemed to do was make things worse.
“I mean,” she took a deep breath, “it’ll be easier if I show you.”
She grabbed your hand but not too harshly. You couldn’t help but smile at how gentle she was being with you. She was usually so abrasive with everyone else but never, never, with you. It was sweet although Maze would vehemently disagree. However, you knew that she secretly liked it.
You sat down on the sofa and looked at your girlfriend. You took her hand and gave it a brief squeeze.
“Tell me,” you said softly, “what’s wrong?”
“I need you to shut yours eyes.”
“What-”
“I want to show you myself,” she said, “who I really am. So shut your eyes.”
You smiled and closed them.
“Is this the part where you kiss me?” you said teasingly
“Only when you open them again. If you still want to.”
“And why wouldn’t I?”
“Wait until you see me. Now, you can open your eyes.”
You took a deep breath and opened them again. Your eyes widened at what you saw and for a brief moment Maze wondered if it was too soon. You had accepted that she was a demon but it could just be that it was just physical. That you could put up with her demonic nature because you-
“Wow.”
Ok, she wasn’t expecting that. You leant closer to her, cocking your head to the side.
“So this is what you wanted to show me?” you asked
“My true form.”
“Thank you. Thank you for trusting me.”
“You’re not… repulsed?”
“Maze, if I was repulsed by you I would’ve ran after I saw you flaying my ex-girlfriend’s skin off.”
You shifted so you were straddling her. Maze smirked up at you, her hands settling on your waist.
“So,” she said, leaning closer, “how does it make you feel?”
“A beautiful, strong woman, who just so happens to be very adept with a knife, decides to open up and be vulnerable?”
Maze rolled her eyes and you leant closer. You brushed your lips against hers, pulling away as she tried to deepen it.
“Incredibly turned on.”
You yelped as you were suddenly spun onto your back. You looked up at Maze who said,
“Well then, looks like I need to do something about that.”
Could I request a platonic maze (Lucifer) x teen!reader where r is a homeless orphan, and maze grows attached them and becomes like a maternal figure to them and r isn't afraid of her demon side? - Anon💜
Since Lucifer had been spending more and more of his time with Chloe Maze had to find different things to pass her time, bounty hunting was fun, but she was often done pretty quickly so she sometimes just wondered around.
It was how she first encountered you, you were running out a store with a handful of food in your arms, occasionally dropping a few.
Maze was fast.
But a teenager trying to get away with theft?
She didn’t expect you to be as fast as you were but when she followed you around a corner you were just done. Not a single trace of you.
She was determined to find you so she searched high and low over the city, she spent weeks trying to find you until she eventually found you again doing the same thing.
Running from a different store with food.
It took a few more attempts before she actually found out where you were going.
You were leaving a manhole cover open nearby and jumping into it before closing it, so she followed you.
She quietly followed you, it wasn’t pleasant walking through the sewers but you didn’t seem to care, or you just didn’t notice the smell anymore.
She carried on taking mental notes on you.
You were covered in dirt, clothes slightly torn, you looked like you hadn’t had a good meal in months, you only appeared once a week or so, you never struck the store twice and you always kept your face hidden.
She kept following you until you eventually sat down on a pile of dirty blankets with your food.
Maze didn’t show herself right away, she stayed hidden and she watched you stuff everything under one of the blankets.
“You know this place stinks.” She calls out.
You jump, eyes flicking to everywhere you could see but you couldn’t see anybody.
“Who are you? Why did you follow me?”
“You’ve been stealing from different stores.”
You scowl a little.
“So what? It’s the stuff that’s nearly out of date, they’d just toss it anyways.”
“It’s still theft.” She replies.
“They have more money to replace it.”
Maze hummed a little, nodding in agreement because you were right, they did.
She leant against one of the walls, still keeping herself hidden from you.
“Why do you steal it?”
“The food banks are always empty when I get there, I always get shoved out the way or ignored, so it’s easier.”
“You don’t steal clothes?”
“No, nothing over a certain amount.”
It went quiet for a moment and the next thing you knew a jacket was thrown in your direction of whoever it was disappeared.
It wasn’t the first time you spoke to Maze like that, she started coming more often but never showed herself.
You knew her name, she knew yours, you knew about her jobs, and she knew a bit about your life but not much.
As the summer ended and things became colder that’s when Maze started visiting more, trying to coax you out of your hiding spot.
Was it concern?
Was this the same thing Lucifer felt for Chloe?
It couldn’t be, this was different, it was a strong desire to just take you home, get your cleaned up and well fed and never let you out of her sight, to keep you safe.
Maze made her way back down, and instead of staying around the corner she walked around and stood in front of you with her arms crossed.
“Stop being stupid let’s go.”
You glance up from where you were laid.
After waiting a minute Maze huff send picks you up, throwing you over her shoulder as if your weighed nothing, grabbed your bag with her other hand and left.
“I’m fine where I am!”
“You’re being stupid and you’ll freeze your ass off, and then I’ll have to take you to hospital and then tell you I told you so while you freeze your ass off.”
It was quiet for a few minutes as Maze brings you back up to the streets.
“Where are you even taking me?”
“Somewhere safe, shut up.”
She puts you on the back of her bike, pushes a helmet on your head and sits behind you.
When she got back to her shared apartment with Chloe she pushes your towards one of the bedrooms and gives you a warning look as she leaves again.
The next thing you knew you were pushed into the bathroom which had clean clothes for you.
You were more than happy to wash and change clothes, when you were done Maze studied you for a moment.
“You’re staying here.”
It was clear she wasn’t going to let you refuse, so you nod your head.
Maze wasn’t the best of cooks, but she did try, and though her food wasn’t great you still ate it which made her grin a little bit.
She wasn’t sure how she was going to explain this to Chloe yet but she didn’t care, you were staying with her, she was going to make sure you never had to be out there alone again because she knew how that felt.
You needed a parent, and maybe she wasn’t the best choice, but she felt a strong drive to care for you and protect you, and that’s what she was going to do
Hey! I know he's a bit of a rare clone, but would you consider writing for maze? he's from the repcomm books and is endearingly (Imo) professional and surly 👉👈
Not That Hard
Summary: When one story ends, another one begins. Maze, formerly a Republic Soldier, is now a bounty hunter. He’s used to things being orderly, everything has a place, and everything should be in its place. So when he ends up locked in a small cell with the woman he’s been searching for, a woman who’s been missing for three weeks, he knows that everything is about to be turned on its head.
A/N: So, I've never written Maze before, but I'm always happy to write any of the Alphas, or any star wars character. His page on Wookieepedia wasn't the best, but I did the best I could. I hope you like it! Also, I've been watching a lot of Numb3rs, so that's where the basic idea of this came from.
Maze leans back against the stone wall, his gaze drifting from the woman sleeping on the singular cot in the cell to the door, and then back again. He’s glad that she’s asleep. He wasn’t sure that she would fall asleep, honestly.
He leans over and tugs the thin blanket a little higher over her shoulders. The blanket won’t do much to keep the cold out, it’s too thin, but it’s enough that she can sleep.
Three weeks ago the University of Theeds reached out to him, telling him that one of their Teachers had gone missing. They said to him that someone had broken into her home, torn the place to pieces, and taken her.
The University hired him to find her since he was something of an expert on finding people.
The fact that she’s alive is a damned miracle, in his opinion. After three weeks, statistics indicate that he should have found her in a ditch somewhere.
He’s never been so glad to be wrong in his life.
Still, the fact that they haven’t killed her suggests that they want something from her. Maze shifts so that he’s sitting on the cot beside her, tired of sitting on the ground.
He needs to think.
Why would someone want a University Professor?
Absently, Maze brushes a strand of hair off her face as he thinks about what he knows about her.
She’s young, barely brushing 25 years old. She’s an only child. Her mom died from heart disease when she was a child, her dad recently retired to a lake house. There’s no other family.
She’s single, and her only friends are people who work at the University with her. Honestly, it sounds like a lonely life to him, but according to her colleagues and friends, she’s seemed lonely or unhappy.
He can respect that.
Maze’s eyes snap to her face as she releases a quiet noise and shifts on the cot, seemingly to curl into his warmth while also opening her eyes. “You should go back to sleep, Professor. It’s early.” He says quietly.
She sighs and shakes her head, “No point. They’re going to be coming soon.” Slowly, she sits up and shifts so she’s able to press her face against his shoulder.
“What do they want?” Maze asks, mentally kicking himself for not asking her earlier. But then, her injuries were pretty severe. It makes sense that he would put that aside.
“I’m a Bio-Engineer.” She replies tiredly, “They want me to tell them how to break into BioGen.”
“Why?”
“BioGen’s biggest thing is weaponizing viruses.”
Maze stiffens and his gaze snaps to her face, “BioWeapons are illegal. Even in the Empire.”
“They weaponize them so that they can try and develop cures for them. It’s all legal and above board.” She reassures, “Even in the Empire.”
“Why’d you leave?”
“A Tenured Professorship at the University of Theeds is a great honor, not to mention it pays very well.” She replies, “It made sense, career-wise.”
“Only there’s a lot less security at the University compared to a Biomedical facility.”
She huffs out a laugh, “Yeah, there is that.” She shifts her head slightly, “But this has never happened before. Ever. People leave BioGen all of the time.”
“And you’re the first one kidnapped?”
“That I know of.”
There are heavy footsteps from the hall and Maze shifts so that his body is shielding hers. The door slams open and three men step into the room.
They’re not big men, if Maze were to stand, he’d tower over them. It burns him up that he allowed men like them to capture him so he would be able to find the professor.
“Professor,” One of the men stalks towards Maze, and he feels her shrink down behind him, “Come on, girl. Are we really going to do this? All you gotta do is give us the information, and then you’ll both go free.”
“Don’t lie. We all know that the moment she tells you what you want to know, you’ll kill her.” Maze growls out.
The man laughs, “Well, it’ll be a quick death, rather than this slow, dragged-out death.”
Behind him, the Professor trembles.
“Is this all of you? Just three men?”
“We still caught you, clone.” One of the other men sneers, “Grab the Professor—”
The first man reaches to grab the Professor, only for Maze to move, swiftly breaking the man’s arm, and slamming his head against the wall, causing him to crumple to the floor.
“Get low, Professor.” Maze orders as he stands and advances on the two remaining men. He doesn’t wait to see if she’s following his direction, as he suddenly has two furious men to contend with.
Unfortunately for them, he’s an Alpha Class clone, and they’re unarmed.
The fight can’t even be called a proper fight. The two remaining kidnappers go down with several well-placed hits, and Maze tosses them into the cell while motioning for the Professor to join him.
“We’re leaving,” Maze says to the woman as he holds his hand out for her.
Nervously she nods and takes his hand, “Where are we going?”
“Well, it was the University who hired me.” Maze replies as he peeks into the hall, and then leads her out of the cell as soon as he notes that it’s safe.
“Um—”
Maze stops and looks at her, “What’s wrong?”
“Just…did they seem smart enough to come up with this on their own?”
Maze stares at her for a long time, and then he sighs, “No. They didn’t.” He’s quiet for a moment, “Alright, there must be something here to indicate who hired them. Follow me.”
Maze leads abruptly turns down a side hallway and leads her into a much larger room. There are computers, though they seem largely untouched. It looks like the kidnappers were more concerned with the games that were playing on the four holos lined up next to each other than the computers.
There are three couches, each other them surrounded by empty bottles and empty pizza boxes.
“Well,” Maze notes as he steps around a pile of trash, “Criminal Genuises they are not.”
The Professor peers at a holo-board next to the couches, “It looks like they have a gambling problem.”
“Lucky for us. It means they probably didn’t delete anything.” Maze walks over to the computers, “Stay close, Professor.”
“Ah…Sorry.” She hurries to his side and peeks around him at the monitors.
Maze flashes a small smile at her and then focuses on the computers. “Hey, Professor?”
“Yes?”
“How’d they grab you?”
“I was heading home from a day of classes, and they ran me off the road.” She replies.
“You were driving yourself.”
“Yeah.”
“Does anyone know your route home?”
“I mean, there’s only one road off of the main campus,” She replies, “But I generally don’t know what route I’m taking home until I get in the car. It depends on the traffic and if I need to go grocery shopping.”
“And you didn’t tell anyone your plans for the evening when you were taken?” Maze asks as he scans something on the screen.
“No. No one.”
“It looks like our violent friends were hired by Levi Kelley. At least, that’s who paid them.”
“Levi Kelley?”
“You know him?”
“Yeah, he’s the head of the Biology Department at the University. I thought you said the University hired you?”
“Yeah, the Dean hired me. This Levi person, is he your supervisor?”
“No. I mean, he thinks that he is, but we’re on the same level.”
“Are you friends?”
“I’ve always been a bit…ambivalent towards him. He’s a good teacher, but he’s kind of a terrible person. Racist, sexist, the whole shebang.”
“And he works at a University?”
“He’s a very good teacher. But he lost his tenure last year.”
“For what?”
“Academic misconduct, according to the rumors.” She leans against his side, exhausted, “The only person who knows the truth would be the Dean.”
“So it’s revenge.” Maze murmurs, “Use you to get an incurable virus, and release it on the school. Did you tell them anything?”
“No, I didn’t. I wouldn’t.”
“They tortured you, Professor. No one would blame you if you did.”
“I’m telling you, I didn’t. I left Biogen two years ago, Maze. I don’t remember any passwords or door codes. And they removed my biometrics from their system on my last day. I swear it.”
“Okay.” Maze lightly pushes some of her hair out of her face, “So they need someone else, a current employee.”
“Yeah, it’s the only way to get inside.”
“Alright. Let’s get out of here and alert the authorities. And get you some medical attention.”
“Yes please.”
Maze lightly presses his hand against the small of her back, guiding her towards the door, “I have one more question, Professor.”
“Go ahead?”
“When my brothers and I were decanted, we were given enhanced aging.”
“Yes, it was the only way for the Kaminoans to get a viable army in 10 years.” She replies.
“Yeah, you think you can reverse it?”
“Reverse it?” She repeats, sounding more thoughtful than surprised. Maze watches as she absently scratches at a deep gash on her cheek, “I don’t know about reversing it,” She finally says, “but I might be able to cure it. With enough blood samples.”
“Really?”
“Well sure, it’s not that hard. It’s just gene manipulation.” She frowns at him thoughtfully, “Look, all the information I need is here,” she lightly taps his chest, “The more of your brothers I can get blood samples from, the easier it’ll be to make a cure.”
“Can you do it at the University while also teaching?”
“I mean, sure. But the University of Theeds is funded by the Emperor. I’m guessing you don’t want the Empire to know about it.”
“No, I don’t.” Maze replies.
She’s quiet for a moment, “Find me a place to work, off of Naboo, and I can help you.”
“If you can cure this, I might just kiss you,” Maze says with a sly smile.
Her face heats and she won’t look at him, “Well, that seems a bit excessive,” She mumbles.
She squeaks when he lightly drapes his arm over her shoulder and tugs her against his side, “No. It isn’t. Come on, Professor. Let’s get you safe.”

Summary: Lucifer is feeling a bit under the weather, so you have to come up with a new Halloween activity to partake in
A/N: Halloween event 🎃
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
With one final huff, you set the large pumpkins down on the table, Maze doing the same thing from beside you.
“You know,” She snapped, turning a harsh glare towards the couches, “Some help would have been nice.”
“That it would have been indeed, Maze.” Lucifer’s british voice rang out from his sprawled out form on the cushions, “I had to get up to get the remote all by myself!”
She rolled her eyes, and looked as if she was about to lunge at him when you put a hand on her shoulder, stopping her from letting a fight break out, “You’re so dramatic, dad.” You said instead.
“Dramatic?” He cried in offense, “I am no such thing! I am very sick, I’ll have you know! And doing tasks that you may see as simple, are very difficult for my fragile body to handle.”
“Dad,” You sighed, “We got these pumpkins to carve so that we could actually do something on Halloween instead of just sitting on the couch and listening to your pity party. You only have a small cold, anyway.”
He crossed his arms and pouted, “It’s a very deadly cold.”
“I will throw your pumpkin off the top of this building if you don’t want to use it.” Maze hissed, narrowing her eyes threateningly.
The devil was quick to jump to his feet, “My, will you look at that! I can stand after all!”
“Okay,” You clapped your hands together, “Let’s get started.”
All of you each stood in front of your own pumpkin and picked up some of the carving tools that you and Maze had previously put out and got to work.
“You have to stab it more than that.” She ordered, demonstrating a stabbing motion for Lucifer.
“Well, excuse me for not going around and stabbing people all the time!” He threw his hands up in defeat.
“You’re literally Satan.” You deadpanned.
“Well, I’m a good Satan!” He countered.
“Here,” Maze marched over and shoved him away from his pumpkin, “Watch and learn.”
She spun the carving tool in her hand a couple times, using her other one to hold the pumpkin still, before driving it into the skin and sawing away, successfully cutting a hole in the top.
Lucifer rolled his eyes, “I could have done that.”
A sarcastic grin overcame her features as she spun the tool in her hand once more before sticking it out for him to take, “Sure, you could’ve.”
You chuckled slightly from beside them, already using a different tool to scoop out the seeds.
Your fathers eyes flitted over to you, “What the bloody hell are you doing now?”
“Taking out the seeds.” You replied in a ‘duh’ tone.
He pouted slightly, crossing his arms over his chest as he warily eyed the orange vegetable in front of him, “Why can't we just make the face?” His voice came out whiny.
“Because,” Mazes teeth were gritted as she scooped out the seeds with unnecessary force, clearly getting fed up with the man, “This is how it’s done.”
“Yes, but why, though?”
“Lucifer.” She picked up the discarded knife from beside her and pointed it threateningly at him, “One more word out of your mouth and I will cut it off your face.”
Your eyes widened and you quickly grabbed her wrist before she could follow through, “Whoa! Whoa! Let’s all just calm down a little bit.”
Your father, who had his hands up in surrender nodded, deciding to be wise and not saying anything else.
Reluctantly, he picked the tool back up and began scraping out the insides, holding in his gagging and no longer complaining.
Seemingly satisfied, Maze went back to her own work and you bit down a smile, following her lead.
A little bit later, it was still silent, when a mischievous idea sparked in your head and you couldn’t help but smirk.
Stealthily, you took a handful of pumpkin guts and chucked it straight at your father before immediately snapping your head down and acting as if nothing was happening.
His head flew up and his mouth dropped open before he pointed an accusing glare at his friend.
“How dare you!” He cried, “This was a brand new shirt!”
Maze looked up, eyebrows furrowed, and sneered at him, “That wasn’t me.”
“Oh? I suppose it was the Halloween fairy then?” He mocked, placing his hands on his hips.
With both of their attentions on nothing but each other, you took another handful, this time launching it at the side of Mazes head. Hitting it dead on.
Both of their heads snapped over in your smirking direction before looking at each other once, nodding, and each picking up a handful of their own and throwing it at you.
And then war broke out.
You let out a squeal as they hit home and picked up two more handfuls, blindly throwing, which they returned.
By the time you had all finally calmed down, pumpkin guts littered the room and all three of you were covered head to toe, grinning like idiots.
“Perhaps I misjudged this activity.” The devil mused with an evil grin, “I do believe that we should do this every Halloween.”
Hello! I would like to know if you are open to writing for a fem!reader x Mazikeen Smith/Lilim from Lucifer (netflix) if you are a request for reader being lucifers sister and being soft/protective with maze, thanking her for protecting her brother and mazikeen being smitten. Thank you!!
omg i haven't watched lucifer in ages i almost forgot who maze was lol so i apologise if she's out of character
i can absolutely do that for you!
------------------------------------
Being a minor demon meant I wasn't under as much scrutiny as some of the more important demons. Granted, this was sometimes annoying- demons often crave attention- but it did allow me to visit my brother almost as often as I wanted.
Lucifer slung his arm around me as I exited the elevator into his apartment. "There's my baby sister," he grinned.
I shoved his ribs. "I'm not 'baby', Luci."
He feigned hurt, hands clutching at his side. "How dare you, you'll always be my baby sister!" He slid behind the bar, beginning to make a drink. "Maze, she's bullying me, bite her!"
"My pleasure." Mazikeen's voice purred into my ear and the cool metal of a knife pressed against my neck.
I smiled, rolling my eyes. "Nice to see you too, Maze." I carefully turned, now face to face with her. "Glad to see you're still looking after my brother."
There was a moment of shock that crossed her face before she rearranged her features into a neutral, slightly threatening expression. The knife was removed from my skin and slid into an unseen pocket. Maze slunk over to sit on a barstool, hunching over the surface like a territorial cat, eyes never leaving me.
"Now now, Maze, I was only joking," Lucifer slid a drink over to her, then gestured for me to sit down. "Have a drink."
I accepted the glass pushed into my hands, and slid onto the stool next to Maze. I tried my best to not stare at her, but it was hard when I could feel her piercing eyes on me. Whether she was assessing me as a threat or something else, I couldn't tell.
Lucifer interrupted my train of thought. "Unfortunately, sister of mine, you've caught me at a bad time- I'm about to leave on a case with the detective."
This time, I allowed myself to look back at Maze. She rolled her eyes, and I stifled a laugh. "The detective?"
"Yes, the detective, now stop laughing," he frowned. "I'm leaving, but you're welcome to stay." He sauntered over to the elevator. "Maze, behave."
I waved goodbye as the elevator descended, then turned back to Maze. Gorgeous brown eyes were only a few inches from mine. I swallowed, trying my hardest not to melt under her gaze.
"Maze? You okay?"
"Why did you say that?"
I blinked. "Why did I say what?"
Maze poked my shoulder. "Why did you say you were glad I was looking after your brother?"
I smiled, and shrugged. "Because I am. You're loyal and protective, and he needs that. He can be smart but wow, he can also be an idiot and impulsive." I slid off the barstool and wandered to the other side of the bar. "He needs someone like you, someone fierce and strong."
Desperately ignoring the tiny smile on Maze's lips, I started putting away the bottles Luci had left out on the countertop.
Mazikeen tilted her head. "What else am I?"
I grinned, looking back up at her and leaning my forearms on the surface. "What, fishing for compliments?"
"Depends," she leaned her chin on her hand. "If you only have compliments."
Laughing lightly, I nodded. "Fair enough. Well, as a demon, your loyalty is unusual but welcome, especially for my brother-"
I was about to continue when Maze held her hand up. "No, what am I to you?"
Fuck, do I tell her? I paused. Could I tell Maze that she was the centre of my attention whenever I came round? That her fierce protectiveness of Lucifer was insanely attractive? That I wanted to see if she had a softer side hidden just for me?
What's the worst that could happen?
I pushed away the negativity that bubbled up at that thought.
"Well," I took a deep breath. "Since you asked so nicely, I think you're one of the best people I know. I think you're stunning and I can't help but wonder if all those glances I think exist are actually happening or if they're just all in my head."
I was sure that when I looked up, I'd see disgust or just confusion written all over Maze's face. I almost didn't look back up, the urge to moonwalk back into the elevator was so strong.
However, Maze was fiddling with a knife, face stained red- she was blushing. "Maze, are you... okay?"
She swallowed, and avoided eye contact. The surface of the bar looked very interesting.
"I... I think you're kinda cool."
I couldn't resist teasing. "Kinda cool? I think you'll find I'm a demon so I'm actually pretty hot."
Mazikeen released a sound I could only describe as a growl and leapt over the bar. I was grabbed by my shoulders and pulled face to face with her. Hands moved from my shoulders to my face and Maze pressed her lips against mine.
She tasted like hellfire and whiskey, fingers burning pleasantly into my cheeks. My eyes were closed, all other senses consumed by Maze. My hands moved to her waist, keeping her close. Maze was so warm, comforting, and I felt her smiling. A full, true smile against my lips.
We pulled away, and her eyes flickered, candlelight in dark irises.
She grinned.
"Damn right you are."
