10 years ago tomorrow, this amazing little boy was born. It was a scheduled C-section bc he’d been frank breech for weeks before his due date. This is the tired smile and disheveled hair of a momma who’d been up for too many hours learning how to nurse and care for a tiny tyrant. He’s still keeping us on our toes, a day shy of a decade later. Spent the entire day today at my kiddos’ school for field day. Thankful for the ability to be there with them, cheer them on, and get to know the other kiddos in their classes, their teachers and the other parents. Lost another dear friend to #mbc today and it makes me even more thankful for these times of stability when like proceeds a little more “normally” for all of us. PET scan is tomorrow so also on pins and needles for those results. Basically, I’m a hot emotional mess, just a liable to cry or laugh or whatever. But thankful. When I got pregnant with my boys, I never contemplated staying home with them for long. But when I was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer (MBC), I had no choice but to leave my career. Today, I got to help chaperone the 4th grade field trip to St Augustine. While my feet hurt and the hand foot syndrome is flaring, my heart is full. The last week has been full of a lot of family time. We’ve made memories and discovered quite a bit about our growing boys. Thankful for all of it. Thankful for so many things and so very very aware of what could and might go wrong. This combination can be paralyzing at times. As we enter December and all of the things that go along with the holiday season, I’m reminded yet again to take time for quiet, for family, for just being.
