Yes, absolutely... I'm a fan of his Gaiden mainly because of him and how it showed a little bit of relationship with Seraphina, Kárdia and Sasha when Sasha was little and everything else, but what really bothered me was Krest, he felt so out of place and people started mocking Dégel because of how strong Krest is and how he saved the story... To me Krest was a pointless character and the Gaiden would've been a lot better without him, not only because it would show us a different side to Dégel

(part 2 because tumblr’s word limits xD) But also because he messed up not only his own cronology (met Garnet 50 years ago, became her ally and then decided to train Dégel, which makes no sense at all if you betrayed the Sanctuary) and also Saint Seiya’s cronology regarding his three Holy Wars (Hades, Poseidon and Ares)Oh, don’t worry about what others say! For example, in the Spanish speaking forum I was part of, the one being made fun of was Krest. People hated him and mocked him relentlessly. I didn’t like him at first either, it took me seeing him in the last gaiden to make peace with him (and he was only 13 when he was given the Misophetamenos).

I was a mod for that forum I mentioned, and man, people had no mercy when they didn’t like something. But I have noticed there are trends of thoughts that become visible in each site, and the mods (and “famous” users) have an influence in that.

In my case, I wasn’t very happy about the gaiden and I was vocal about it. I disliked Krest, the heavy use of the damsel in distress plot device, how Seraphina (who I had hope would be shown as a super cool smart woman, since she was several years older than Dégel, and already a diplomat for Bluegrad when Dégel was still a child) was turned into background decoration, and I could feel my saying it out loud encouraged others users who didn’t like it to say similar things.

So what a user with certain influence says will influence what others around will say (or -scary thing that makes me feel like a villain in retrospect- feel encouraged to share). That’s how that feeling of “everyone feels this/hates this/loves this” is created, but that doesn’t mean everyone actually thinks the same way.

I had a lot of expectations, and therefore a lot of feelings I could not hold back. Too many feelings. Because of my expectations, I could only see the negative things. But I think there were positive things too.

Don’t feel discouraged when other people seem to dislike something you do like. Visible tendencies are sometimes illusions created around certain groups of people. There are things everyone seems to agree on (ex: the Mani gaiden rocks), but it’s not that common for that to happen, when looking around different websites (or talking to people outside the Internet). It’s not always as clear it seems to be at first sight.

When Lost Canvas was being published I used to visit tons of different of websites in different languages, and there were many different opinions. There was a forum where Dégel was the most “hated” character, to the point it had become sort of a meme. There were other places where he was loved to death.  

Moral of the story: Enjoy what you enjoy. Analyzing it and discussing it is COOL. It can make people see things in a different way, by showing a different perspective.

I really love Lost Canvas. And I may complain and everything, but I still bought that volume anyway XDAnd by the way: I don’t mind asks. You’re not bothering me in any way!

I personally liked Dégel's gaiden (sorry, I looked through your Dégel's tag xD), despite the fact Shiori once more pressed the repetitive button of the "references" and connections to Hyoga and Camus, I like everything about Dégel, so... I do wish she had shown him in less extremely emotional situations, although it's quite clear he gets emotional even when he doesn't want to (for example, when Fluorite finds her had, she breaks down and Dégel initially tries to remain cold, but gives up), so...

(cont) So what I’m trying to say is that Dégel must be one of those characters who desperately tries to remain cold and impassive, but deep down has a warm, altruistic, gentle heart that hopefully will never be surrounded by ice… :)I actually agree with you regarding Dégel. He’s one of my favourite characters and I’ve even written plenty of stories about him –in Spanish, though! My stories are exactly about what you mention, exploring his nature, which I find very interesting ^^My problem is not with him as a character, but with his gaiden, only. I disliked how he was put in a situation similar to what we had already seen in the main story, instead of exploring another side of him, and I disliked the story of the gaiden itself, and how most of the characters were handled. Since Dégel’s one of my favourite characters and I liked the first chapter, I had high expectations, but found it to be a huge disappointment (also, reading the chapters as they came out each week instead of waiting to read the whole thing turned me into an overcritical monster).I love Lost Canvas as a whole, but some gaidens didn’t do it for me. Unfortunately, two of the gaidens I didn’t like were those of my favourite characters (Dégel and Kardia). At the same time, I loved the gaidens of some characters that were not my among my favourite (Aldebaran). And at the end of the day, there ended up being more gaidens that I liked than gaidens I didn’t like.I wish I could love Dégel’s gaiden! I’m glad you did. It sold well, so many others must have liked it too. It’s just I was not one of them. But him as a character is definitely among my favourites.

its matt bellamy’s 36th birthday and i needed to rant. its like 1 am, and i need to get up early tomorrow so ill try and be quick

matt means so fucking much to me. especially at this age because he got into music around when he was 14. when he was my age, he was starting one of the greatest bands of all time. he’s so amazingly talented, and i can’t even comprehend how much creativity his songs take to write. his music is so inspiring to me and when i can play it, i feel untouchable (when i played pib up to speed for the first time i almost cried). when i saw him play live, making riffs that i could never play seem easy, he made me realize that i could do that too, if i tried hard enough. he’s my biggest inspiration and i love him to death. i hope he has a great birthday.

I woke up this morning and i read the beautiful messages a girl sent to me. I almost got in tears. I am used to pretend that the Maccabees are just a band i listen to, not a bunch of lads i'd long to hug as soon as possible. I was not convinced about writing what happened to me on Tumblr, cause in the past i have experienced that people almost never feel happy for you, but they feel mad and jealous instead. Mbells wrote to me. And She basically changed my day. A few days ago i was talking to a girl WHO works with me and i almost got in bits telling her what happened. She clearly didn't understand the shiver i felt when i was describing Hugo's cold hands, She didn't got the point in Felix's "see you later" convinction. But, bloody hell I'll never know how this is possible, a girl I've never met on a creepy webstite GOT THE POINT. And She was basically telling me (with the most pure and genuine words) that She was HAPPY for me. I am grateful to people like this because i know that sometimes it's worth to open up and to tell our stories, 'cause a few part of those WHO listen will get it.

I’ve been sort of disconnected from the fandom as well, but it’s basically it. Mikey fell in love w/ a model and now they are engaged.

Ah I see....yeah I heard that he cheated, but I didn't know if that was the case....and I guess  we still don't for sure, so we'll wait and see eh?
