The things you see on a motorcycle. This can’t be real, an example of the legendary Mercedes 300SL Roadster? Gull Wing? I didn’t get a close enough look in the dark to see if I could discern how the doors opened. Given how extremely rare and beyond expensive these cars I can’t believe someone would actually drive one, especially around here. It has to be a replica, right? If so it strikes me as a very nicely done one. It was much warmer than forecasted and despite a slow and late start we managed to find our way back up to roads West of Mercersbug, PA. Little Cove Road and Indian Springs Road were probably our favorites but as we went in circles, as evidenced on out Ride Map, we found these seemingly endless bouncy roads with just these ridiculous steep grades and blind hill tops. I forget how beautiful Maryland can be. We bounced around skinny little roads along the Pennsylvania border eventually making our way to Catoctin Mountain Park, a long time favorite just as the sun was starting to set. Old familiar roads can seem entirely new when you change the order or direction. And we were blessed with just some of the best weather and scenery. After a 13 week break due to a (ahem) scooter accident, Duncan had finally healed well enough to try a ride.
