LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad - Promised Land Vol.1 (1996)
One of the best compilations in d&b history! It features two CD´s, one mixed to perfection by LTJ Bukem (with vocals by MC Conrad) including brilliant tracks from DJ Crystl, Fokus, Adam F, Voyager, Orca and DJ Trace, and the other full of unmixed full length classics from Dee Jay Recordings and Lucky Spin Records. This is pure quality all the way through - some of the best drum & bass ever made. This is a must!

Oh yes it's good. It was the first Bukem set to come with full MCing from Conrad, long before all the Progression session malarkey. And as usual it's excellent, the vocals complementing the music so well. As for the music, high quality from an excellent label. Especially lesser known tracks like MI5 "Experience", in fact another guise for DJ Crystl. The second disc brings some fine moments too, albeit less inspiring than the mixed disc. The only low point is that, being a show-case of dee-jay recordings, maybe it does not reflect the true versatility of Bukem's sets at the time (and which he lost later on by playing only Good Looking tracks, but that's another story).

was listening to this on monday night driving home (driving for the first time in ages, back in the uk). made me feel proud as to be british. havent felt that way in a time. utter pressure right here, perhaps bukem and conrads finest mix?
