7.) The reason behind why Val wasn't able to join Hogwarts until the 5th year was because she was actually considered a 'Squib' back then. This particular reason stirred several dramas in her family. Given that she's part of the House of Black did not help (a part of her that she's not proud of, btw). Even if she was brilliant as a kid, yet she never really displayed any signs of magic that could get her admitted to Hogwarts. She was almost disowned because of it but was sent to a muggle boarding school instead. Until an accident happened in her boarding school that she unknowingly caused that time. Little did she know that she was the reason for the fire that destroyed her dormitory. This event marks the birth of her actual magical ability. Then BAM, this is where the canon events begin—the acceptance letter, the training with Professor Fig, etc.
15.) Val is the type to feel her emotions deeply. With all that has happened, naturally, she was overwhelmed, but in a way that she knows she can't break just yet. Then, when the classes have ended. This kid took a week to make sure everything was alright and kept in check—at least those that she could handle with the best that she could. After that, she isolated herself so that she could cry and feel all of her emotions. Val decided to take refuge to her parents' old house somewhere in the Scottish Highlands, far from people, places, and the memories that haunt her. She stayed there for around two weeks, and when she got tired of feeling sad, that's when she decided to get a part-time job in Hogsmeade at Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop. It was a good way for her to clear her mind amidst all the consequences that she had to face in the present.
19.) Like her name (Valentine), this kid actually has a few 👀 However, her main love interest and the one that really has her heart is Garreth Weasley. She actually sort of hated him at first because of that one potions class XD Val loves potions and she was really hoping to leave a good first impression on Professor Sharp, et voilà, the trouble with Garreth. Even so, she tried to be civil with him while he always attempted to impress her (which usually fails, unfortunately). Sometimes, Val would randomly prank Garreth just to annoy him in return. Their romance was actually sort of a slow burn for Val, at least. As for Garreth, he was always sure about it. This kiddo fell for him because he made her feel seen, heard, and safe; seen in a way that he sees her for who she really is and not just what most people think; heard in a way that he would always listen to her yaps no matter what it is; most importantly, safe in a way that she feels comfortable and content around his presence.
Also, fun fact! But in the universe where she exists with the other MCs or OCs, she also has a crush 🤫 (from Gryffindor, too)
23.) When I was designing my MC, I was just sort of going with the flow. All I could remember was that my intuition went 'pink kinda looks adorable, let's go with a pink theme'. Truth be told, I didn't even have a lore back then, but somehow, it worked out in the end. As for the change, for Valentine, I would usually play with her hair color and hairstyles, and that's when it clicked to me that suddenly I have an idea what story I would make for her. By that, I decided to make a part of Val's characteristic that she dresses up in order to express how she is feeling, and also one of her mottos — 'depressed, but well-dressed ' AHAHAHA basically that's how this all started XD And yes, there are a few bumps along the way, but I wouldn't change a thing — take the lesson then move forward ✨️
27.) If Val wasn't sorted in Slytherin, she'd definitely be in Gryffindor or maybe Ravenclaw.
Although chances are higher in Gryffindor. For one, Val is very ambitious (hence why is she in Slytherin), and alongside that ambition is the courage and determination to create her visions & desires to life. At the same time, she does not shy away from fighting for what she believes is right and fighting for those she loves and even the deemed 'underdogs'.
As for the Ravenclaw part, Val takes pride in educating herself to anything she can get her hands to, especially when she was younger. But as she grows up, she finds herself learning more about certain topics/subjects that pique her interests, improving if you will. Additionally, this kiddo values originality.
And yes, this mf was a hatstall.
