🕊️ Love and Deepspace – My Theories about Zayne, the MC, and "A Long Night" 🕯️
Lately, I’ve been falling even deeper into Love and Deepspace, and I wanted to organize some thoughts that have been blooming in my head, especially after watching a YouTube video theorizing about the MC’s past and then reaching Zayne’s "A Long Night" memory. The more I look into it, the more everything seems connected... like faint memories from another life.
Here’s what I’m currently thinking:
1. Zayne and the MC met before — across universes. There are so many hints that the MC and Zayne have a connection that predates the main story we are playing. In "A Long Night," Zayne speaks with a tone of painful familiarity, promising the MC that even after she "sleeps," they will find each other again. The idea of "sleep" here feels more like a metaphor for death, and yet Zayne speaks of it so gently, as if love could transcend even that boundary.
2. "Sleep" symbolizes death, but also hope. Rather than pushing the MC toward death, Zayne comforts her — softening the terror of it. He tells her: "Follow the jasmine's fragrance in your dreams. You shall surely find your way back to my side." He is not coaxing her to surrender in despair, but reassuring her that death is not the end for them. Their bond is strong enough to survive across lifetimes, even if it means they must first "sleep." (Miss Angel's theory about her immortality make sense too though, so maybe.. there's a tweak around her immortality, who knows?..)
3. Zayne's happiness at seeing the MC awake (in the current universe) makes perfect sense. In the main story, he says with wonder, "You're not an illusion. Neither am I." This hits so much harder when you realize he probably spent an entire lifetime, maybe many, searching for her across dreams, memories, and fading worlds. Finally, she’s real again, and he can make sense of his longing that he probably doesn't even realize or understand himself.
4. "A Long Night" takes place in a past life. Everything from the language ("'Tis," "thou art") to the atmosphere feels different from the current timeline. This memory isn't happening in the same world as the main story (the story that takes in place in Linkoln city and he's MC's childhood acquaintance). This memory is a glimpse into a past existence, a tragedy they once lived through together.
5. Zayne might have died with her (or just after). When Zayne says he wishes to "watch the sunset one last time before falling asleep," it sounds like he was preparing to follow her into death. Maybe he lingered just a little longer... just long enough to promise her they would find each other again and watch her surrender to their fate peacefully. They seem like they wanted to escape Asra's curse (rule) of Zayne is a tool that should never fall in love. So, they die and try to change their fate in another life.
The "dawn" could also symbolize rebirth, new universe, new chance, so he’s telling her: “sleep” (die here) but we will reunite when a new world rises.
6. The jasmine sea flowers — a memory carried across worlds. In one of Zayne’s stories (The Dawnbreaker), he tends to jasmine flowers daily — caring for them almost religiously. Maybe jasmine became sacred to him because it was the last scent tied to his beloved MC as she "slept" (died) in that past life. Even without fully remembering, something deep inside him clung to that memory, nurturing it like a ghost of a feeling he could never quite explain.
✨ In Short: The MC and Zayne are soulmates across universes. "A Long Night" is a window into one of their past lives, where they lost each other but promised to meet again. Their bond is ancient, fragile, and unbreakable — stitched together with jasmine-scented dreams, death, rebirth, and endless searching.
I’d love to hear more theories about the MC’s immortality, past lives, or her and Zayne’s hidden memories. I am not a gamer, never played an Otome game before. But, Zayne, this game's plotline and the serene art? Magical! I am already LV.37 when I have been playing for less than a week haha I'm addicted!
