A McMess in the Making

Really, McDonald’s? The struggling burger behemoth is really reaching -- towards a “new” audience with this McBike tote, designed for millennials, who as it turns out, like bikes as their preferred mode of transport (someone tell the hipsters). While BrandCandy is a fan of innovative, problem-solving packaging and experiential consumer experience (the side-eye one-day launches of McBike in Copenhagen and Medellin, Colombia...uh, wait, where?), we’re not so sure McBike would fly for most.  After all, who drinks a SMALL beverage? LOL

McDonalds introduces bike-friendly drive through packaging

I have to applaud McDonalds for their tireless effort to change their image into a more health-conscious brand. They are really trying. Sadly, most of their efforts only touch on surface issues and arguably the ‘Anti McDonalds’ damage has already been done. But bless them they do try. 

The McBike is an interesting idea and I’m sure it’s a great PR stunt (as Coca-Cola do shamelessly). I’m glad they are making it available in bike heavy cities but it won’t roll out globally. It’s a nice idea but it isn’t viable. And what is with the colour choice?

On a side note, I have never once biked to McDonalds and I doubt I ever will, even if the McBike were on offer. Mostly because if I am going to McDonalds I have hit my low. At that moment I have already given up on achieving anything that day and things like fresh air and exercise and effort are the last things on my mind. If I have decided that I’m going to McDonalds I will figure out the best way to get there while exerting the least amount of effort to do so. I’m getting an uber there AND back.

M 記又有新野 ! 專為單車友而設 McBike 外賣盒

由於外國地大物博，所以往往可能要駕車或踩單車才能光顧到麥當勞。不過對於踩單車的人來說，在麥當勞購買外賣後，要如何將外賣帶走絕對是一件麻煩的事。有見及此，最近麥當勞就與廣告公司 Tribal 合作，設計出一款專為單車人士而設的外賣盒 McBike。

現時在麥當勞購買外賣，通常店舖都會提供紙袋或膠袋讓大家將餐飲帶走，不過若然單車上沒有裝上購物籃，要如何將外賣帶回家中及其他地方，就令不少人傷腦筋了。不過麥當勞最近設計的 McBike 外賣盒，就終於解決了上述問題，雖則其外表看起來有點似開心樂園餐的盒，但設計上卻有所不同，當中盒的兩側可以放入漢堡包及薯條，而盒底則設有坑位用來盛載飲品，之後只需將外賣盒合起來，便可方便帶走了。此外，McBike 上還設有一個較大的手抽孔，方便用家將外賣盒穩穩掛在單車手把之上，以後踩單車的人不用再擔心沒有地方擺放外賣了。

雖然 McBike 外賣盒暫時仍未正式投入使用，不過據了解麥當勞早前已於丹麥哥本哈根及哥倫比亞麥德林舉行了相關試用活動，而且官方亦計劃將這款外賣盒推廣至阿姆斯特丹及東京等單車較多的城市。有鑑於 McBike 的設計不算太過複雜，因此若麥當勞真的正式應用，相信要生產出來應該不會有太大難度。
