Knowing that Thorgi held onto life just in the hopes that he would see Aphmau one last time kills me whenever I think about it. Even worse, Aphmau’s other pups that were just as loyal probably died thinking she left them on purpose and they never got to say goodbye. Maybe someone painted Aphmau in her time as lord. Maybe when the pups got old and sick, one by one, they got to lay with that picture and be with her. Maybe they were able to pass peacefully with her at their side.

This is one of many Aphmau dog headcanons but im just gonna share them one at a time

Aphmau used to take baby Levin on rides around the village/ forest on Phoenix’s back. Phoenix would nudge his way into the harness she’d attach his saddle to because he was so excited to be the dog of the day.

After Aphmau disappeared, Zoey would try to console Phoenix and give him a purpose again by letting the kids ride with him and following behind them with the other pups. It made their daily walks feel less empty. Kiki continued this tradition once she was in charge of them by riding on him while Leona was learning to transform into a full wolf.

He was buried with his harness and saddle.

Mcd Dog head canons! I think this is the last individual pup I need to cover from the main 5!

I decided to portray Cookie as a Bernese mountain dog because of how she behaved and how Berners act. They’re often characterized as smart, loyal, and hard-working, but they’re also known to be gentle, calm, and tolerant. I know her puppy that Cadenza adopted after Cookie died was a husky, so I’m basically going against all of the other dog breed hcs Ive done but yk what, I’m a big kid and this is my head canon‼️

Cookie stayed with Levin a lot when he was a little kid and later, stayed with Cadenza when she was grieving the (almost) loss of her father. Cookie connected deeply with everyone she came into contact with. She loved so hard that when Aphmau disappeared, she nearly died of a broken heart. She stopped eating, moving around, everything. She was an affectionate, alert dog in nature but she also worked hard, so her behavior’s drastic change was shocking. She wasn’t with Aphmau as often as Thorgi. She didn’t carry Aphmau when she was tired like Phoenix. She didn’t possess the amount of special skills the other pups did. She was rarely aggressive, even when she needed to be. Still, she recognized like the other pups when they were sent away on a ship to protect the women and children of many different villages, that not finding Aphmau again when they returned home was likely a permanent loss. She saw everyone grieve. She grieved just as hard.

Cookie was apart of Aphmau’s life. She grew alongside Aphmau’s children. She’d been the dog of the day many times. She began to love and live again, but it took a while. When she had her puppies, she passed that love down to them. Her legacy was the love she shared to all of those who came into contact with her. There’s a memorial for her in New Meteli thats taken care of and respected for as long as the village stands.

Aphmau was what people would call “a wild woman”. That perception of her only became more prominent when taught Thorgi how to howl. Once the other pups came along, he taught them how to howl too.

Every full moon it’s a damn spectacle. The wild woman and her wolf pack would howl on the beach. Every month she would set up a picnic the day of a full moon until the sun went down. When the moon rose, their symphony began. In the later days of this tradition, Logan and Yip joined them so they could learn how to howl and feel more at home. When Aphmau disappeared, the symphony to the moon sounded more like wails to bring her back.

The pups started all piling onto Aphmau’s bed while her and Zoey were sleeping one day and never stopped. They took up most of the space and some days, Aph and Zoey would move downstairs to the guest room and just surrender the bed.

The final straw for them was when Thorgi was sleep kicking and literally knocked Aph out of bed. They got locked out of the master bedroom for a week but Aph eventually broke and let them all back in.

MCD Dog hc time !! (It’s been awhile💕)

Aphmau overexerts herself a lot and has a very hard time registering when she needs a good nap. Luckily, she has a beast of a dog that helps her with such tasks. Puma is a Saint Bernard and wolf mix, so he would already be big without the added extra wolf size, but that’s not what makes him so suitable for the job. He is very different from the rest of the pups in the sense that while they only think about playing and food, he noticed human things.

You may have heard of the term “dog/pile” when a bunch of people jump and lay on one person out of the blue as a game. That LITERALLY is what happened to Aphmau. When Puma thinks Aphmau needs to rest, he will take any chance he gets to flop down on top of her once shes in a comfortable place and hold her still. Aphmau is strong but Puma bests her strength with stubbornness. He will not move. With this, Aphmau has learned to give up and just sleep when this happens. She needs it anyways. He became a service animal and a VERY weighted blanket.

Aphmau’s friends and family caught onto this and post-time skip, would use this same tactic against Aphmau for her own well being when she refused to sleep because she had things to do. (Laurance was the first one to try it and he reported back to the rest of the guards, who thought it was hilarious but ended up actually using it.)
