Sharing Time - WIP Monday
I missed the Six Sentence Sunday but I want to share a snippet of my WIP “My Soul Is Calling You Home” for all of you out there who wait for this sequel. I want to let you know guys, I’m working on it. Writing like mad daily to get it done. I’m still drafting. It’s going to be such a good story but before I even think about posting I need to finish it entirely. But here you have some moments from that universe I’m creating for the boys. McDanno forever, my lovelies! I love the boys. God, I love them so much.

(unbeta’d, draft-state, and just to give you a heads up, guys... slow burn - this story is the freaking epitome of slow burn. And that’s not when Steve returns to Hawaii for the first time after the long break. In this scene, he flew over to Virginia Beach...for a week...)
Steve took a shaky breath. He wanted to get out of the airport as fast as possible when his eyes fell on a familiar, petite body with blond hair and a shy, half-smile.
Mary.
The spike of joy and gratefulness made his eyes water. He blinked confused and slowed down. "Mary?" He asked with what he hoped was a joking voice to play the overwhelming emotions down.
"Hey, Punk," Mary smiled bravely through a fit of shyness, "Dad told me when you would land. I don't know if you have a car or not. Or if you want me to be here but –"
"Mary," Steve dropped his bag and hugged one of her shoulders with his hand. He smiled at his little, courageous sister, "I'm happy to see you. It's great you're here." He wanted to say so much more. How much he loved her. How much he missed her and how much of a coward he was not to tell her when he would come back. And with a sudden, white-hot clarity, he realized that Mary looked so shaken because she hadn’t been sure if he would come back at all. "Mary – "
"Hey, big brother, it's . . . it's great you're back." Mary cut into his sentence and lifted a lei with a different kind of flowers. "I made this for you. We used to do that for Aunt Deb when she visited in the good days before mom died."
"Yeah, I remember," he said with a too rough voice. His soul felt chaffed. Too many things happened, and the emotions had started to backlog days ago. Steve didn't want to deal with it. He was too scared of how he would get swept off his feet. Not to feel anything was way easier. But he knew that at one point, the entire stuff would blow up right in his face. Steve fought the tears and watched his beautiful, strong sister. She stood there with a wreath of flowers in her hands and love in her eyes waiting for him until he would lower his upper body so she could slip the flower-chain over his head.
(The long wait will pay off, guys! Thank you so much for your patience and your love!)
I’m So damn relieved, I‘ve watched the final episode before I even thought about writing a post.
It’s all about LOVE and the power of love and the deep bonding between friends and the ohana which is shown in 10.22 and that unique bond between Steve and Danny. It’s all about Steve and Danny and how much they love each other.
That’s what this final episode is about and it‘s McDanno all over. So MUCH LOVE between Danny and Steve and Steve has to leave for some time, there’s no other way. He’s free now and he has to go so he can come back to Danny. And the final scene with Catherine was just right. I liked it a lot because she’s not there to take Steve away from Danny. She’s there to help Steve to get through the first steps of is journey. Nothing is set. Nothing. Steve isn‘t just diving headfirst into a relationship with Cath.
Steve wasn‘t prepared to see her. Cole knows her and I liked that conversation in the car where he mentioned Catherine. She’s Steve’s friend and she knows him well. She’s moral support and nothing is set there. It’s old friends meet again and God, it was overwhelmingly moving, even the end scene with Catherine. It’s not a McRoll end, at all.
We’ve got an excellent McDanno ending - at least I feel this way. It’s Steve receiving support from his friend Cath to make it from being H50 leader to tourist and civilian. Danny will be by his side and Cath is a good friend. She’s not there to start a new life with him. She’s there to help him through this flight and through the terrible time when Steve thought he has lost Danny forever.
I speak only for myself - I loved the ending on so many levels . And to make it unmistakably clear - this was all about McDanno and not about Cath and Steve.
I‘m happy. It was a fantastic episode and Steve‘s heart is lighter and he finally can close a hellish chapter of his life. He has earned some soul-searching in different wonderful places on the earth and to roam the world a bit always with Danny in his pocket and only a phone call away.
And why Steve has to do this journey on his own I might add later. But it’s something he just has to do.
My fangirl‘s heart is just...floating on cloud nine.
