Ooo okay sweet, im gonna start with 'i sing the blues and swallow them too' bc in my mind the only interpretation i can come up w is the narrator is basically saying that they 'sing the blues' or express their emotions openly (thru music perhaps, but i dont like taking fob lyrics super literally) but also will often 'swallow' their emotions and not talk abt them, tho i also take the second part in form of talking about pills (antidepressants most likely just bc depression = blue yknow?) and the second lyric example follows a similar line of thought where they're saying that sometimes, to cope w their heavy feelings, they do risky things and exhibit irratic behavior with a possibly bad outcome ('take chances') or sometimes, to cope, they take pills until they forget what they're feeling
