Y’know I just realized something about Jonathan Crane about now. In Doug Moench's version of the origin, he introduced the concept of "violent dancing" that's basically Crane-style kung fu. But like even if you ignore Batman/Scarecrow Year One that retroactively sets it in deadass rural Georgia, the '60s and '70s (where his teen years took place depending on what specific continuity) were when McDojos and cheap martial arts guides were first starting to become a thing. So I just imagine him in his first fight with Batman ending badly because he got scammed like ten years ago.

A reminder that Jonathan Crane is canonically a fucking dork and I am here for it! Even if I did not expect him being a "mall ninja" to be one of those.
