I deleted 1/3 of the cc I had and managed to go in game. I don’t know how much I’m going to post but I have pictures for now, I just know I feel like writing (this also means that the characters I had with no planned stories... you’re not going to see them for a long time sorry; but there are like six sims I updated and plan to use).
“Oh my god” Blair cupped her mouth with her hands, eyes open in panic. She had kissed him. What the hell had she been thinking? She felt like a fool. Duncan was still wearing the same confused expression, completely silent. “Oh my god, I’m so, so sorry, I didn’t mean to...”
Duncan bent forward, his hands taking her face, and he pulled her until his lips covered hers, softly. Blair was the confused one now, but she couldn’t help but relax under his warm touch. She felt something electric in her veins as she realized; they fit. Her lips were made to fit on the other’s. She smiled against his mouth. And he parted her lips with his tongue, intensifying the kiss, deepening it, and still managing to do it gently. Kissing Duncan felt like returning home after a long time. It felt exactly as she imagined it would feel like. Blair couldn’t help but think she had never been kissed like this.
It didn’t last long, but for her, they had been kissing for hours, and still it didn’t feel like it was enough. She wanted to keep discovering, keep drinking if the sensations that flooded her body. Duncan stopped kissing her, separating them by as little as a breath, forehead against forehead. His hair tickled her cheeks, and she wished feelings could be painted. He had to catch his breath before talking again. Blair understood; her heart was still hammering hard against her chest.
“That kiss was mine” he smiled slightly, his thumbs brushing her cheeks. “I had been planning it for so long, I didn’t think you’d take it from me” Blair couldn’t bring herself to talk, felt as if there wasn’t enough air yet. She just frowned. “You didn’t let me finish. Before I go, I had planned to take you on a hot air balloon. Remember? One of the first times we talked, you told me you’d always dreamed of it. I bought tickets. We were going to see the whole country from the skies and then... then I was going to kiss you and...”
“I couldn’t wait” Blair cut in. “You were leaving. You are leaving. I couldn’t wait two more years to tell you that-” she scanned his face, memorized every little detail, every wrinkle around his eyes, those he got when he laughed, every mole, every angle and curve and the way shadows and lights played on his skin. She took a deep breath, but her next words were barely a whisper. “I love you, Duncan Kingsley. I think I always have.”
Duncan’s eyes shone, and this time, her heart skipped a beat.
“You keep on stealing my moments” he chuckled. “I was going to take you on the bloody hot air balloon, and I was going to kiss you. I was going to write a whole speech on how much I love you and recite it for you, and I was going to beg you to come see the world with me” she bit her lower lip. His words were there, filling the air between them, and still she couldn’t believe this was happening. She had wanted this for so, so long- “The last part was a work in progress, I know you’re studying medicine and I’m not about to ask you to give up your future. What I mean is... is that I want to spend my life with you” he pressed his lips tightly together, waiting for her answer.
She giggled.
“You didn’t let me finish either” she grinned. She felt such joy she didn’t know how she was managing not to jump and scream and laugh out loud. She felt tears of joy threatening to come out. “I made up my mind. I didn’t choose to study medicine. I’ve been talking to Willa about how afraid I was of disappointing my parents, and... I’m twenty now. I’ve grown up. In a few months I’m gonna be considered an adult even here in the States. I’m old enough to make my own decisions and I-” Blair closed her eyes for a brief moment; going back to the moment she realized how much she desired to pursue art. How much had she missed the feeling of cold paint staining her fingers, how much she loved to see the colors mixing up on her canvas, right before her eyes, and create life and death and feelings with her hands. She had kept it to herself for months because she had wanted to surprise Duncan, but she hadn’t been assisting her med classes for half a year now. “I dropped it. I dropped college. I can’t just forget about art and give my life to something I don’t feel passionate about. And you make me want to do art. And I was going to beg you to take me with you, wherever in the world you’re going to next.”
“Let’s start over, then, alright?” Duncan asked. Blair didn’t really know what he was talking about, but she nodded anyway. “Blair McKenzie, would you do me the pleasure of coming on a hot air balloon ride with me, and see the world with me after?”
“Of course” she smirked; she didn’t need to think about it. Duncan brushed his thumb over her lower lip.
“I love you” he muttered.
Blair processed the words. She had always thought Duncan loved his sister, and the truth is, she realized, he did. Willa had been his friend since the time she first got to America. They had been so close, and Blair had been so naive, that she hadn’t realized there was nothing romantic between them. Whatever thing had sparked in Duncan two years ago, it died fast. And now he was here, and he was holding her, and his gaze was deep and meaningful, and his words made her every cell sing.
She couldn’t imagine how it would be to wake up beside him, to get to see his beautiful ocean blue eyes every day, to make her dreams come true with him by her side and get to see the world for the first time. She wasn’t caged anymore, she was free to see and experience and paint and feel.
“I love you too” she whispered, and Duncan kissed her again.
And McKenzie number two. When I write about them again, the story posts are gonna be set two years after the things you previously read about. That’s also my excuse for the more mature look that came with the revamp. She’s twenty now.
Blair stopped running as soon as she spotted Duncan, sitting under a palm tree with his eyes scanning something above his head. She steadied her breath as she made her way towards him, the smile already taking place in her lips. She couldn’t help it, the mere sight of him made her happy. It was the first time she’d seen him for a year, at least outside of her laptop screen. Autumn was almost here, they’ve lost the whole summer. Blair, looking for a good therapist for her sister. Duncan, somewhere on the east of Asia, where he had just returned from. And now they’ve almost run out of time to be together, and she’d have to wait another year to see him again. She sat down, noticing the moment Duncan laid eyes on her.
“Hello, stranger” he said. His hoarse voice, with his strong English accent, had grown as familiar to her as her sister’s. He looked at her up and down, as if trying to notice every detail. He always did that when they met after a whole year, and she wondered if Duncan, same as her, tried to memorize her so he had something to hold on to when they were separated.
Their bond had grown tighter these past two years. Duncan had been her biggest support when her sister had broken down, back when they traveled to Scotland. He had always stood by her, and had lamented having to leave them. He had wanted to stay, but she had always refused. He was a traveler, his life was not in Scotland, and she couldn’t ask him to stay. She had Sadie, her best friend, too, of course, but Duncan was different. Not only because he knew about Willa -knew her like the palm of his hand-, but because he always had the right words. When Blair had been in her worst moments and had begged for something, anything to calm her down, it had been as if the very right words had turned into a person. He had gotten her a laptop on their first Christmas, and since then, she had only used it to video chat with him.
“Hello, Duncan” she finally said. Duncan’s smile grew wider. “Sorry I was late” she shook her head. “Willa’s psychologist wanted to speak to me again.”
“What for this time?”
“Nothing new, just to run over the story again” she sighed.
“Do you think he’ll be able to help her?”
“I hope so” she bit her lip. “She has to want to be helped first, and I think she kind of does, so that’s an improvement.”
Duncan nodded, examining her expression. Blair smiled. She wasn’t pretending; for a long time, she had faked every smile and laugh. But her sister wanted to get help, they were back in Bridgeport, it was still summer, and Blair was happy.
“There’s something I need to tell you” Duncan announced.
Blair tilted her head in surprise. Her skin felt itchy; she hadn’t come here just to talk, either.
“There’s something I want to tell you, too” Blair sighed. Nervousness seemed to had taken control of her fingers, as she couldn’t stop them from curling around the grass and the blanket set below them. She had waited two years for this, sat on it until she was ready, until she felt it was the right time. She was still unsure of the latest. Duncan opened his mouth, but Blair cut in before he could tell her to begin. She had waited for two years; she could wait another five minutes. “You go first.”
“I’m leaving in three days” Duncan said. “I’m going to be on a road trip to every state, then to Canada. I’m gonna take a flight after, and I intend to visit every country in Europe” Blair nodded as her only reply. She was doing the maths in her head, calculating how many months he would… “Blair, I don’t think I’m gonna be able to make it here next summer” Blair froze at that, dropping her math. Too many months to count.
“I won’t see you next year” she realized. Two years, at best. Two years without him. She could feel every inch of her screaming at the thought.
“But there’s something I want to do before I…”
Blair couldn’t wait any longer. She was up on her knees before she could think about it twice. Her hands cupped his cheeks, and she dragged him forward until she could reach his lips with her own. An exclamation of utter surprise parted Duncan’s lips. And she closed her eyes tightly, softening her mouth around his, hoping his body would lose the tension with the kiss.
She had thought about this before, about how it would feel to kiss him, and curl her fingers on his hair, and realize how their lips fit perfectly together, as if they had been made to be pressed to each other’s. She didn’t know exactly when she had been feeling this way. When she had started thinking about him as more, way more, than a friend. When exactly had she started to hope he realized too, that there was more between them than what eyes can see?
Only a few seconds had passed, but she felt all hope drain away from her body when Duncan didn’t relax, his muscles tight and tense, his expression of confusion. She was kissing him. She was kissing him with all the love in her heart, and he didn’t want the kiss. He didn’t want her the same way she wanted him. This was not how Blair pictured their first kiss.
