Three Broomsticks
Lily has been surprised how quickly the wizarding world had picked itself back up since the chaos in Diagon Alley. It felt like it had only taken the shops a few days to recover enough to reopen.
Since that day, Lily had been engrossed, if not a little obsessive, with what she could do to improve herself for the next spot of trouble. When she wasn’t tending to James, Harry, or Remus, she was pouring over old books, practicing incantations under her breath, and rehearsing spell work.
She’d been losing sleep acting this way, forgetting to finish her meals, and somewhat incapable of holding long conversations. Every time she idled, every time she caught herself laughing, Regulus’ wide eyes behind that death eater mask would fill her mind.
So when Marlene had suggested meeting up at the three broomsticks for an evening, Lily had felt excited and apprehensive all at once. She wanted time with her dear friend, but how would it feel to be back there? Would she be any fun at all?
“What’s that thing called again?” Lily asked Tom, tapping her hand against the top of the bar in thought. “A butter bomb? With the shot of fire whisky in?”
Lily ran her hands through her hair nervously as she watched Tom fill a pint glass full of beer and present it beside a shot of fire whisky. “Thanks, cheers!” Lily said, winking at Tom as she dropped the shot into the glass of beer and quickly began to gulp it down. If this combination didn’t loosen her up for Marlene, nothing would.
