the decor was fantastical! i just love the vibrant blues!!! and this peacock lamp with the blue tassel lampshade tickled me!

sashimi combo (not shown Takikomi Gohan (rice with egg and veggies)). mackerel at the top right had masago (fish eggs) pressed onto it so that evry bite had a delightful crunch and burst of flavor!

cafe ile, mclean, va (just a hop skip away from tysons galleria). just a lovely restaurant with exquisite sushi, yummy pastries and the best oatly caffe latte i have ever tasted. they have the most interesting dishes - we got beautiful scallop two ways tonight and had mackerel that had pressed crunchy white roe in the sashimi combo another time. they make their own soy sauce. they are just really nice people.

lovely brunch at divan, a persian restaurant in mclean.

we had some bread with honey butter and olive tapenade, beet dip, squash frittata, meatballs, and stuffed trout atop spinach with herby tahdig (rice with crispy crust). the blackberry bramble mocktail was quite heady - we were mesmerized by the fruit going up and down

so lunch was a bunch of dips (walnut/pomegranate/molasses and lebanese eggplant/chickpea moussaka) and breads (wonderful garlic naan and lebanese pita). leila is a hidden gem in the tysons corner mall - right above california pizza kitchen, next to shilla bakery. they have a wonderful patio (with heaters).

a pretty large lunch before we took my nephew back to vcu - nabeyaki udon (with shrimp tempura) and chirashi bibimbap (korean and japanese fusion - i like that the rice and fresh fish was lightly seasoned before i added the korean spicy gochujang sauce which was served on the side)
