Yeah, that's not something I would like to have brought up out of the blue. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this!

I ended up just being super open and honest with him, though I think he read it as "I'm not interested" rather than "I am interested, but we live in different states and also the L word freaks me out."

I think you can get out of it if you've served jury duty in the last 5 years or something. You shouldn't have to serve that frequently.

You are correct! But it is 3 years (I've done more jury-postponing than actual jury-serving hah), and it's been around 4 since I last *actually* served (I got completely out of one of the summons because I no longer lived in that state)

My mom was in her late 40s by the time she got her first summons and I also know people who have never gotten one and yet I've had three! I mean, I know I'm supposed be like yay justice, yay democracy but ugH jury duty is about as fun as going to the dentist

Hey! that was long thanks for sticking with me! I think, of my followers, Minnesotans might be the only state that has a caucus but I have no idea if other caucus states do it the same way?
