recent events have me full of mcr thoughts… next tour better be in the same style— but danger days— red hair, trans am, laser guns, the whole thing

on the topic of dd: I think a lot of mcr fans who claim to not like it actually do like the music itself, they just don’t like the aesthetic because it goes against the traditional “alt” style which is sort of… opposite the point

esp with all the destroya hype like cmon you guys just have fun

i fuckn hate being a broke mcr fan. people for real think they’re a better fan because i don’t want to put myself in even more debt for stuff. like sorry i can’t go to multiple shows or fly overseas to be a groupie.

i’m a big girl and i don’t rely on daddy’s money because i live in the real world. splashing cash on shit doesn’t make you a better/more of a fan than me or anyone else who has to be financially responsible.

if i have to choose between a limited edition expensive vinyl or being able to afford a peanut butter sandwich for dinner, i’ll take the sandwich.

(if you interpret this as me saying the mcr members are poor working class people i will kill you) but also i think a lot of people forget when it comes to tours/merch that the tickets to shows arent what makes the majority of the money, especially when you have a shitload of actors and props and pyrotechnics that those tickets have to pay for. like the tickets have to cover the cost of putting on the show, the cost of developing the show the cost of marketing the show the cost of almosy everything to do with the show because spotify definitely doesnt and physical media sales are a very small slice of that pie. like. sure the tickets can be expensive but the majority of that is not going straight into the bands bank account. and not to mention the venues take a fair cut. and record labels take their cut before it ever gets to the artist. like tours are how bands make their money nowadays but even then tours are soooo fucking expensive to put on that what ACTUALLY makes bands money is merch. like yes its all expensive but also theres so much in the show itself that would have cost a shitload of money. i do think the merch could be better and the designs were getting atm feel a little lazy but also thats how bands make money. off selling merch. they have to sell merch cus thats their job.

it’s just really interesting to me that rick c. showed up to the game yesterday, especially considering the team had to fly out right after for vegas. like, yeah, i’m sure they saw each other a bit — probably pre-game, maybe a quick post-game moment — and i get why he’d come. his schedule’s more flexible, it just passed a holiday (even if it’s an american one and they’re canadian), and watching your kid play is obviously a draw and shouldn’t be looked at negatively (which isn’t what i’m doing.)

but still… it’s kind of curious. you come all the way out for a game — without your wife — knowing you’re not actually going to get much time with your son? and yes, there are totally normal, practical reasons for that (robyn, presumably is at home with the two younger kids, travel logistics, all that). but it also feeds into the low-key ongoing parent-issues narrative in a way that’s hard not to notice. like it’s not bad, it’s just… interesting.
