Sorry if you answered this question already and I can’t find the answer, but when do the Sharks need to be back in San Jose to prepare for the season? I know the preseason games are at the end of September, but I keep seeing people say August is when they’ll be back?

Last Year:

September 18, 2025: Start of training camp

September 26, 2025: First preseason game

6 total preseason games

This year:

The mention of August is because Will told Laila that's when they'd be getting back (which she shared in an interview)

September 20, 2026: First preseason game

4 total preseason games (due to new CBA)

All to say, I don't know the real answer, but given this timeline, I'd assume September 14th-ish if not earlier (since the 12th is a Saturday) and that will & mack will get back much sooner because they are theoretically sorting out a new place.

The fact that Rick, of all people, liked that video of Willmack at the pool in Nantucket is insane to me. He’s not even chronically online, and as far as I know, he hasn’t liked any of their training clips, not even the official ones, but he liked this? The video mostly centred on Will watching his son happy and relaxed by the pool?

God. It’s like Rick trusts Will completely to know what’s best for Mack, which is wild considering how Type A, rigid, and controlling he can be. Mack is his greatest accomplishment, his pièce de résistance, and he’s entrusting his most valued protégé to 21-year-old Will Smith Hockey?

The one person who could pull Mack away from those 17-hour training weeks and have him willingly rushing out of the rink to explore Vancouver like a tourist, visiting lakes, cafés, going shopping, then hopping on a plane for dinner, golf, and a dog’s birthday party, of all things.

Will really is Mack’s joy, balance, and release. And Rick hand-picked him for Mack, then spent an entire week watching them together and came away reaffirmed in that choice.
