”Why’s it gone quiet? Where….where are you?”

Here’s my submission for the Main Character Syndrome art contest hosted by @inspiredpixels! Their au’s super cool, and I knew the moment I saw the post about it that I HAD to lock in and draw my boy! Very fun to consider to what extent his self-deprecating tendencies would go, and if he hurt himself for reasons deeper than the desperation to never see his own body again.

PLAYBACK: BEGINNING.

The audio crackles to life.

—I found a journal on the floor he was on. Shoved in a corner. It’s strange, however. The last entry was ages ago.—

—I know he’s blind, but this is obviously his writing.—

—I’m going to read a couple of the passages aloud in case something happens to the journal itself.—

The audio goes silent for just a moment, and the sound of Rodger clearing his throat fills the air. —Alright, then.—

—This is hell. This is hell. I don’t know if I’m even alive, or not. I can hear them calling to me. I don’t know what they’re saying. When I close my eyes, everything goes silent again. I can see them in the corners of my eyes when I’m awake, in my dreams when I try to get a moment of fleeting rest, in the way my grotesque hands shake every time I move them. I don’t want to see them anymore.—

—And, the most recent entry.—

—There isn’t anyone here to stop me. It hurt, but I managed to dislodge one of the shards of glass from my horrid face. I saw myself in it. It was hideous. I don’t ever want to see myself again.—

Rodger pauses.

—Maybe if I can’t see anything, they’ll leave me alone. I wanted company, but not like this. Not in the way they stare into the depths of my soul. Not in the way they ridicule every inch of my disgusting body. If there isn’t anything good in this world to look at anymore, I don’t want to see at all.—

—The rest of the page is drenched in ichor.

I made my own take on Squirm because i love him he is my baby Based off the brown house moth, mothman, and a lot of moth species losing their mouths after reaching the adult stage.

Finn's hands trembled harshly as the twisted magnifying glass held his face still. It was so hard to look away, the gaze being so hypnotizing. Memories came to his head without him even thinking of them. It felt like they were being picked and sorted through, almost as if someone was opening a drawer and looking through paper files.

"Look at all this research..." the twisted mused to itself, "So much information. My my, you fight so hard. Many twisteds fall to your hands. So aggressive. But why? There must be a source to your aggression. Ah ah. I see your hand trembling. Best not try anything, Finn. Your adrenaline will not help you here."

"Get out of my head..." Finn growled dangerously as he shakingly began to lift up the spear gun in his hand, his grip getting tighter. He would not let this...thing get any more out of him.

"And give up all the information you have on you? I think not." Twisted Rodger hummed, "Oh? Curious. Who is this? I don't seem to recognize them." Finn's blood ran cold on that statement. He knew who Twisted Rodger was referring to.

"I said...GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!" Finn full on screamed as he aimed his spear gun at the twisted, shooting it right through the eye. It screeched and retreated back into it's capsule as Finn panted heavily. His head now felt fuzzy with the connection cutting off so quickly. The fishbowl glared at the capsule, a small growl escaping him, "Don't you ever get into my head again..."

Was his final warning as he turned and walked away, leaving only a capsule in his wake.

Main Character Syndrome AU, and contest hosted, by @inspiredpixels !! I might've gone a little all out thinking about my sillies in the AU haha 😅 It was a lot of fun though!!! I'm also very very excited to see more of the AU in the future! More of my shenanigans are under the cut, including Leon and Prin's full designs,,,

"Keel? It's unusual to see you so worked up. What's the matter?"

"Rodger! You wouldn't believe the journey I had. Usually I have no problems traversing the depths by myself however... Well just look at the photos I managed to get."

Main Character Twisted Leon

Once rare and competitive, this Twisted's ferver has only intensified. Be warned; he is willing to use any means necessary to 'win'. At what? ...We have no idea.

Mechanic: Like the original twisted, Twisted Leon's walk and chase speed match that of the fastest other Twisted on the floor (not including Lethals, average speed if all other twisteds are stationary). However, now Twisted Leon gains a temporary boost to speed upon initiating a chase, gaining Speed 2 for one second upon spotting a Toon.

Turning to sabotage as a means to catch up to his 'opponents', upon being hit by this Twisted, the injured Toon will be afflicted with Slow I and Tired II for 3 seconds.

Main Character Twisted Princilla

Once common and angered, this Twisted believes all other Toons to be wholly incompetent at their work. It's advised to complete a floor with her quickly and efficiently, and to never leave a machine unattended lest she decide to 'fix' it herself.

Mechanic: Like Twisted Shelly, Main Twisted Prin applies a floor-wide debuff to Skill Check size called Pressured. Like her original Twisted, she can hear failed skillchecks from anywhere on the floor.

Additionally, if a machine is left semi-complete and unattended for too long, Twisted Prin will find her way over to it, draining much of the progress in an attempt to 'fix' the machine.

"Leon, you're not exaggerating? The Twisteds are becoming much more dangerous all of a sudden?"

"Yeah! The last run I was on was no joke! I didn't think a Twisted of all things was gonna be tricky enough to actually compete with me!"

"And no one knows why?"

"Still tryin to figure that out I think, yeah!"

"...Next time you go on one of the runs, I'd like to come with you."

"What!? But you never go on runs, Prin!"

"That should be a sign of how important this is then. I'd like to get a look at them myself."

Tsuna the Tsunami

This dream construct has Twisted into a corporeal form due to her Astro's unique affliction.

Originally created to help steer the mind, she gave artificial dreams an authentic feel by kicking back and letting fate choose a destination. Now that the moon is compromised she seems to be taking her role as captain seriously—but is she at the helm, or the Ichor? Mechanics

[DREAM TEAM]

If this Twisted appears, the other Oceanids are guaranteed spawns; Twisted Astro or Astro's floor is required for this Twisted to appear.

[CAUTIOUS CAPTAIN]

Twisted always spawns at the center or center-most part of the map. The Twisted is extremely wary of her surroundings and does not wander, instead sticking to a radial, clockwise pattern from origin to the edge of the map and back. The return trip is significantly slower than the starting journey. This pattern can only be interrupted by entering Twisted’s line of sight: items and skills such as the air horn are ignored.

[TSUNA’S BOAT & ANCHOR]

Weighed down by her prized vessel, this Twisted is incapable of maintaining chases and will disengage after a certain amount of time regardless of target Toon’s visibility. All chases start with high speed that quickly falls off. When Twisted disengages from a chase, she resumes her radial pattern.

[BAIT REJECTION]

Twisted will throw her anchor in a long range attack if a Toon tries to stall her pathing too many times (ex. chained/forced chases.) Takes two hearts if successful.

[WAVE TRAIN] PANIC MODE.

Clockwise movement abandoned, Twisted adopts a new path from the center of the map to the front of the elevator. Speed loss is lower while chasing a Toon, and the time before Tsuna disengages is doubled. ◇◇◇

“That patch…”

“It seems pertinent to visit Astro after all.”

NEW TWISTED UNLOCKED MAIN TWISTED CARBIE

WARNING:

This twisted is fully blind relying on his overgrown antennas to sense toons using Soundwaves. He will rush to a newly completed machine so make sure to hide once you finish a machine. YOU CAN'T OUTRUN HIM

Cardbie will also place down Ichor filled cardboard boxes around the map, touch them and you will get slowed and illness for 30 seconds. HE IS FOREVER WORKING

This twisted has a higher chance of spawning on warehouse floors.
