Welcome Back, Seniors!!
Contributor applications for our zine are open! We're looking for anyone and everyone interested in creating fanart, fanfic, or academic essays related to Bare: a Pop Opera willing to participate, so don’t be shy now!! How this will work: - We'll be accepting applications on a rolling basis, meaning applicants can apply whenever and work on their contribution as they see fit! - There are check-ins we'll be hosting with dates posted in our discord server, which you will receive the link to once you've completed the first part of the form! You must join the discord as it's the best way to keep in contact with the mods and the best way for us to communicate with you all! - The aspect ratios needed for the pieces as well as font requirements and word counts will be posted in a separate, view-only discord channel for ease of access!! - You will submit a final piece through a separate google form, so that we can organize them together into a final digital zine! Hope to see you there :D

all I do is think about this show but. the parallels…
“[…] something just to think about, and-” “[…] you know acting’s not my thing […]” (You & I)
vs
“Just think about it please […]” “Don’t.” (Two Households)
there’s something so. idk. painful, I suppose, in the way that it all plays out and the way that the Two Households ‘think about it’ retroactively puts and underlying ultimatum into You & I
i am supremely indecisive and need direction, so I’m putting this one to a tumblr poll ;
which full-length fic to focus my energy on next?
forgive and forget (it’s all coming back to me now)
something stupid (like i love you)
as close to heaven as i’ll get
just because [i’m] pretty
touch tank
write more one-shots / smaller fics
none of these interest me / show results
summaries and such under the readmore - feel free to send asks for more info <3
He would admit to being uncertain about what ‘cheaper’ actually entailed, but Jason and Peter seemed to be pretty well-informed. And not quite as tall as Lucas, which would probably make borrowing something of theirs a little less embarrassing. The sound of his knock was followed by a startled yelp from inside, and the music was turned down again before the door swung open.
more self-indulgent good catholics - says i'm pretty [wearing his clothes] over on ao3
“Jay-son.” She dragged the sounds out and put her hands on her hips. “Where are you tonight?” “Right here?” Even as he said it he knew how dumb it sounded. “Stupid.” Ivy reached over to ruffle his hair. “I mean come on - hang out, have fun! You’re supposed to be the cool twin.”
realised i fully forgot to post this one - i wanna dance with somebody up now on ao3
WHY YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO BARE: A POP OPERA
Okay, so bare is a very very very underrated musical, and it’s very good so you should listen to it and here’s why!
- It’s about these two gay boys, Peter and Jason, who attend a catholic school (the original production is set in the late 90s/early 2000s but it could easily be done in modern day) and have to struggle with the homophobia from those around them and themselves while in their senior year of high school
-Michael Arden, director of Deaf West Spring Awakening, was Peter in the original off broadway production (and a damn good one)
-There was an LA revival in 2013 starring Jonah Platt (Ben Platt’s brother) as Jason and his Jason made me cry like no other
-There is an amazing nun at the school who’s accepting of the boys and loves them but also puts up with no ones bullshit and has some great one liners
-ITS CANONICALLY A GAY SHIP
-There’s a high quality bootleg on YouTube from the 2013 LA revival (like almost professional quality)
-You cry and fall and love with these characters so quickly
- There’s a self deprecating song sung by an overweight character and it’s lowkey a bop
-It talks about the usage of drugs and the effect it has on you and those around you
-You will get to enjoy such lines as:
•”How about a baseball bat there’s one in my pants”
•”Happy birthday Ivy, you are the special birthday bitch!”
•”Father we were so in love...and that’s what I find so odd our love was pure and nothing else brought me closer to god”
Basically if you take anything from my rant you should listen to bare (the pop opera, not the musical [which had Barrett Wilbert Weed in it but it’s not nearly as good])
