"Yes."
"With the Galactic Empire," he attempts to lighten his own mood with the joke, but the response he gets from Ross makes the blood freeze in his veins.
"They call themselves the Unitary Galactic Communia, actually."
If Tony lets his silence speak for itself, it’s only partially because his throat is closing up on him at an alarming rate.
"I know it sounds bad at first—"
"Oh no no no, not at all," Tony interjects quickly, "this is wonderful news. A communia. A unitary one. Sounds very… organized. They must be people who know how to keep an army. Of galactic proportions. This is great, really. Not debilitatingly frightening in the least."

Alternatively: the freshly pardoned Rogues have complaints, Tony is dead on his feet, and Steve has issues with the handsome alien lord who keeps offering Stark the literal universe.
Comments: Tony/Super Hot Alien Guy. I'm usually wary of pairings where the main character is paired with an OC, but I am obsessed with this one and it's next level worldbuilding. It hasn't been updated in a while but even uncompleted it was an experience to read and is one of my top re-read fics I go back to. **Autonomy by Amethystina Word count: 114,292 (18/18) Summary: After spending years under HYDRA’s control, the last thing Bucky wants is to return to their ranks. He does so only because his situation provides an invaluable opportunity to infiltrate the most impenetrable army in the galaxy — his own discomfort is a small price to pay for the lives he might save in the future.
Three months is all he can take before he decides to throw his cover and find his way back to Steve, HYDRA hot on his heels. With him, Bucky has a memory drive of stolen information and a second personality sharing his body, courtesy of HYDRA’s brainwashing.
All Bucky wants is to deliver the information to Steve and the Alliance and finally return home, but when his ship is damaged he has no choice but to stop for emergency repairs. He’s directed to ‘The Mechanic,’ who can supposedly help, but Bucky isn’t exactly comforted when he meets the man in question.

So he steals a wizard and a spider and a spaceship. And he runs.
