hwasa always thought of herself as forgiving. the boy who had leaked her relationship to her parents? misunderstood and ignorant. her parents who had swiftly kicked her out? just the same, and probably understanding and caring if she ever wandered back home.
the girlfriend who had left her out in the woods...? hm. shocked. it’s not like it was a pretty sight.
cut to years later where she’s happily free of judgement and with a home to call her own. being unbelievably dedicated to the bakery she had put everything into, hwasa barely ever had the time to do anything other than try out new recipes and forcing friends to give criticism. since she enjoyed it, she never found a problem with it -- until her recipe reservoir had been drained and she was left with nothing to do on a night with activity buzzing outside.
it didn’t take long for her to decide to join the excitement of night life, despite being alone and with no idea of where to go. dressed to her best, she mingled in with the travelling crowd, picking up on words brimming with zest and murmured club names. she chose one group at random to follow, disguising herself by pretending to be busy on her phone and just wandering through the city. it worked perfectly, and she was soon stepping beyond the boundaries of the club.
noise instantly assaulted her. shouts of chatter above the booming music filled her mind, dragging her in further and further until she was settled by the bar, lips popping and brushing her hair out of her face. a lazy hand waved the bartender away, giving her the solitude to look around. all she saw at first was a crowd of bouncing heads, hair creating a forest over the dancefloor; but then she looked further and higher, and her eyes landed on who she presumed was the dj -- a girl who she instantly placed as all too familiar, eyes wide and throat running dry as a desert.
she rose to her feet without thought, red lips slack and heart beating against her chest. it seemed as though there was suddenly a path between all the bustling bodies, and she followed it, trance-like, until she ended up right in front of the dj’s booth, eyes trained on who must be the girlfriend from so long ago. the song playing ended, giving everyone a break, and hwasa took a deep breath.
but then, she realized she looked like a fucking idiot.
“um-- shit, oh god. i’m sorry, i thought you were, uh-- someone i knew.”
