So........Mike Daisey is a complete puzzle to me. I never know what I think of his monologues. Half the time I’m thinking, “Wow. He’s incredibly insightful and brilliant and I’ve never thought about issues this way,” and then the other half I’m thinking, “Wow. This guy is rambling so far off on a tangent he’s completely lost in the woods.” He does always make me laugh and think, though; and I’m often still thinking weeks later.
This performance was no exception. It’s hard to describe exactly what it was about, but it somehow distilled everything everyone is talking about these days into two hours - white male entitlement, political dilemmas, abuse of power, liberal nightmares, sexual harassment, and revisionist history. And yep, I’m still thinking......
