A Duel For the History Books

It's late, but this is the fic I wrote for the MDZS big bang this year! I was paired with two incredible artists and I had so much fun working with them, so make sure to pass on your love to them as well!

Summary:

“Lord Nie. I implore you to accept my request, just this one time.”

Nie Huaisang let out an awkward laugh. “Ah, of course, Prince Lan. I’ll do whatever I can, as long as it’s in my power.”

There was a flicker in Prince Lan’s eyes, there and gone too soon for Wei Wuxian to be certain, but the glimpse he saw was akin to ferocious triumph. He didn’t have much time to think on it before the Prince captured his gaze again, and he watched in shock as the man slipped off the glove of his left hand and tossed it onto the ground in front of Nie Huaisang.

Whatever air had started a tentative circulation of the room dissipated in a second at the display, and Wei Wuxian heard but couldn’t make sense of the words that followed.

“I humbly request a duel for Lord Wuxian’s hand in marriage, Lord Nie.”
