Who is your favorite Korean actor
Ok, I am quite picky and I tend to dislike actors that people like and like actors that people dislike. It's just the way I am. if I don't like an actor in my first project believe me it's gonna take voodoo practice to ever like that actor. With that said, I'd make these two categories. My fav actors based on acting skills and then looks.
Yoo ah in: believe me, this dude is a beast. There is an intensity to his acting that most actors his age can't even tap into. He is one of those actors who has perfected the craft of using body language to convey their character's feelings/thoughts/motivations beyond the lines that are being provided. He's extremely attractive too, so....
Jang Hyuk: ok, he's Ahjussi now but once upon a time he was an oppa. A very hot oppa that turned into a very hot ahjussi. Ok, to be serious, he's a damn good actor. My favourite of his generation. I am gonna say this, there is no other kactor that can use their eyes like jang hyuk does. This man emotes like no one which makes his costars look like background art decors.
Seo in guk: he's a mix of yoo ah in and jang hyuk tbh. Eyes with jang hyuk and then body language with yoo ah in. I remember park sung woong once said there is something about his eyes that always make his heart skips and I agree. There is just something about watching him on screen that makes you have a tunnel vision no matter who he's in with in a scene.
Lee min ho: I still don't get why this man is hated but I think it's mostly new generation kdrama watchers. You might disagree but this is the man that brought in the Hallyu wave and I don't believe you can do that by being a mediocre actor. I always say this, everyone that has to act with/against this man is quite unfortunate cos he has this aura that puts focus on him. Simply put, he sucks attention out of his costars and put it on him. And holy lord! Man is insightful.
Lee soo hyuk and jang ki yong: I remember when born again was first announced, I thought to myself no matter who the lead actress is, they are going to have to be extremely talented to outshine lsh. And then jang ki yong was announced and I was like the female lead is fucked. And she was truly fucked. The reason why I kept both names together is that they have similar acting styles. 'Intense, detached cool, and fun'. Believe me, there is a way these two use those three styles that make you go "fuck, they are good." And good lordt! Their voices. Their voices can get you pregnant.
Lee jong gi: I call him the king of flexibility. Boy changes like a chameleon and gives his all. That's one of the things I love about him. He's not the kind of actor that limits himself and doesn't mind throwing his body into danger if the role calls for it. Sometimes, I forget he was an idol before he became a full-time actor. Does he still sing? I haven't listened to him sing in years.
Joo jin mo: new kdrama watchers might not know him but I think this is the only actor that can suck out intensity from jang hyuk and believe me that's something. I just love him and I can watch him stare intensely at a wall for 16 hours believe me.
Honourable mentions: Jo in sung, So Ji sub, park bo gum
Ji chang wook: I think he's a decent actor but I think he's not found a good director or story that can tap into his potential. He was only decent in empress ki if you compare it to warrior baek dong soo where Yoo Seung ho burnt him to the ground. Song Ji na(writer) tried with healer but I still think it's not enough. But what he lacks in choosing good projects, he makes for in looks, abs and kisses.
Kim bum: honestly, I think he's a very good actor but still need work in the "emotion department." But it doesn't matter cos holy shit...mothafucker is hot!!!!! Nine of the nine-tailed might have capitalised on that hotness but he's always been hot. I still fan myself when I think about his character in Mrs cop2. And that was six years ago!!!
Lee dong wook: I must admit I don't know if he's a decent actor or not but I do know I'd have his babies. He's fucking beautiful!!! I remember how my sis and I wouldn't stop gushing about him after hotel king. Although he's been in our head before that, hotel king gave him an apartment rather than a single room.
I hope you like my picks. But like I said, I am quite picky.
