So I asked one of my teachers for a recommendation, three weeks later she responds to me with this:
“Yes, I have watched you for all four years of your college career. And all those classes make me hesitate to give you a reference: it won’t be as good as you would like it to be. I am HOPING that you will be an excellent teacher and that you are doing extremely well in your internship. I really want you to do well. And a reference from me—if I am honest—may not be in your best interest.
But I do appreciate your asking me.”
Honestly a simple “no” from her would have sufficed.
My question is who the actual fuck says shit like this? I mean, I may not have been the best student for all of your classes, but that should not impede my ability to be a good teacher.
Also, regardless of whether or not I was a good student, the fact still remains that you have watched me grow as a person and you have never seen me in the “teacher” position in the the classroom.
But don’t worry, I already have two interviews set up for this week with out your stupid jumper-wearing, grammar-obsessing, flamingo-loving reference.
