It has been my goal for the longest time to make all my own clothing or repurpose existing clothing to keep it out of the land fill and extend it’s life. This goal has been slowed down by 2 things: my sewing machine running at a snail’s pace, and my lover getting cancer, necessitating me giving up most of my activities to drive him to and from daily Dr. appointments.
But recently I managed to turn a skirt into a dress and I’m proud as a peacock. It fits great and is super comfortable. So I’m tempted to wear it every day until I get something else made to go with it. Except it is already too cold to do that. I need to make some leggings because all the elastic has died in mine, and I need to make tops so I can wear my dress like a jumper. And my old sweater needs replacing. I’ve started knitting about five sweaters but can never seem to finish any of them. I did make a red and black shrug awhile back so I can wear that over the top I suppose, though the dress is gray and they don’t really go together stylistically.
I do have a plain black linen dress that I bought to wear to a wedding. I’m dying to cover it with embroidery. I think I will start at the hem and work my way up.
I’ve decided to use foxes as my signature animal so the first thing I want to embroider right now is a fox.
But first I think I need more sleep.
